Pros: Easy Install in my Cooler Master HAF Mid-Tower case. No problem with spacing, fit right into the slot and started right up. Took about 5 minutes to download and install the latest Catalyst drivers. Also with control center, able to overclock up to 960Mhz on the memory clock. First Test was Skyrim. Turned game to ultra settings where applicable. Ultra distant objects detail. Reflections on, FXAA on. All view distances maxed out @ 1600x900 resolution. Runs 35-60FPS depending on the area. Excellent, beautiful! Also Tested with Shogun 2 ( max settings everything, runs full speed no slowdown whatsoever ) and Saints Row The Third ( High Settings, 4xAA, 8xAF ), runs 45FPS smoothly. Cool - Runs at 63c during a long Skyrim play session at 73% fan speed. And idles at 40c 7.4 WEI Rating. So now my system is 7.6, 7.6, 7.4, 7.4, 5.9 ( HDD )
Cons: Fan is a little loud when it revs up over 65%. As all fans are. But I wear headphones, so no biggie. The sound from your speakers will drown it out though. Ummmm ... nothing else really. Just do not expect to play every game on Ultra settings with max AA and all that. But your games will look fantastic.
Overall Review: Build Complete! I5-2400 @ 3.9Ghz ( overclocked ) 8GB Patriot Gamer Series 1333Mhz DDR3 Radeon 6770 1GB DDR5 20" 1600x900 monitor 500GB HDD 7200 RPM Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Will Do What You Need
Pros: Runs Games on High - Ultra at 1600x900 with AA turned on at a consistent 30-45FPS. I have tested this GPU with Skyrim - Saints Row The Third and Shogun 2. Skyrim runs with everything turned to Ultra, draw distance on everything all the way up and 8xAA and 16xAF at 30-60FPS, depending on where you are. Saints Row runs on High with 4xAA and AF turned on at 46FPS or higher. Amazing performance for 120$. Shogun 2? 60FPS in a 7,000 troop battle. Cool - Stock case fans ( 2x ), stock GPU cooler and fan. With the overdrive performance I see 40c idle and playing Skyrim for 1h+ it is at 64c. The highest it will go is 64c it seems. 78% fan speed. Quiet - On regular desktop and browsing you can barely hear the thing. When the fan kicks up you hear it of course, but does not drown out anything else. Took less then 5 minutes to install. Fit my Cooler master case easily. Very easy to Overclock. Overall very impressed. VERY. Also just hooked up my TV as a 2nd monitor.
Cons: Nothing really. Except do not expect to play everything that comes out on the highest settings you can think of. Also, do not expect to use the built in features like Super Sample AA. Skyrim with Super Sample AA ran about 12FPS. It seemed to make the game look to * soft * anyway. Regular AA the game comes with is perfect. Nothing else really.
Overall Review: Current Build: I5-2400 @ 3.1Ghz 8GB Patriot Gamer Series DDR3 RAM. 1333Mhz Radeon HD 6770 1GB DRR5 @ 900Mhz ( overclocked ) Cooler Master HAF Mid-Tower Case 500GB 7200 HDD 20' 1600x900 Monitor
Pros: - Hugely discounted at time of purchase! 90$! - Crisp 1600 x 900 resolution screen - Stand was installed in about 10 seconds - No picture problems. Well packaged and maintained and shipped extremely fast. - Good all around Monitor - Built in speakers
Cons: - Discoloration of the picture when viewed at various angles. - No HDMI support. Had to use an HDMI to DVI adapter since my motherboard had HDMI and this monitor had DVI - Connections are underneath the back panel. An odd design choice. Had to tilt my monitor down to connect everything.
Overall Review: As this monitor was hugely discounted by Newegg/manufactorer I had little choice but to nab the thing! 1600 x 900 resolution is crisp and beautiful. Don't get me wrong, the built in speakers will not blow your socks off but they do get the job done. Playing Bastion atm and it sounds great! I have backup Bose headphones for when I want surround. All in all, this is a solid monitor. Very impressed with the speedy shipment and easy installation. No worries, no hassles, thats what you want.
Solid Z68 Mobo
Pros: - Z68 board meaning overclocking and integrated graphics HD 2000-3000 support. - Great built in features with the CD - QuickBoot, QuickBoost, etc. - Overclock your memory, CPU, GPU, with ease. - Great design, tons of free space for your GPU, no hassle installation of all components
Cons: - No USB 3.0 - locking lever for CPU was a bit off, caused the metal shield to come down at the wrong angle, had to mess with the orientation of the guard or risk damaging CPU.
Overall Review: Bought this with the i5-2400 and yes, I am able to overclock the 2400. Great board, great look. Everything component wise is well placed and for my first build, it could not have been any easier. POST'ed on my first time flipping on the power and the thing is great.
Pros: * 6500 Passmark Rating * Incredibly Fast * Steady 30-50c temp * Overclockable
Cons: * HD 2000 and not 3000 * no others
Overall Review: Bought this amazing gem of a CPU the other day with a Gigabyte Z68 - DS3 motherboard and 8GB of DDR3. Runs Windows 7 with a 7.6 CPU rating and a 7.8 rating. Even though it runs HD 2000 it still scores a 5.6 on WEI and am currently playing L4D and Bastion with everything turned up without problems. Can't say how impressed I am with this CPU. And yes, with a Z68 motherboard I am able to overclock this CPU. The mobo has a built in QuickBoost feature which allows me to instantly overclock from 3.1ghz to 3.3, 3.6 and 3.8 Ghz. The motherboard also has a QuickBoot option and now I literally load Windows 7 Ultimate in 20 seconds flat. Can't be beaten. I have run multiple internet browsers, opened tons of folders and ran WinRAR on 800mb files while playing Bastion and the CPU did not even run over 40c or reach 40% loads. This thing is a beast. Buy immediately, or buy the 2500 or whatever. Sandy is king.
