Update--Not worth the problems
Pros: After spending more time with this board I had to update my perivious review. I'm taking two eggs away because of the continuing issues I'm having.
Cons: The only time the board seems to be bug free is when the ai suite is uninstalled and everything is reset to stock settings in the bios. Even a minimal overclock applied with many different voltages to try and find a stable 4.0 results in system instability. The board may appear to run fine for 1 or 2 days, then suddenly goes haywire. Multiple reboots, blue screens, freezes, and changes to bios settings that I didn't make. Once after 3 consecutive reboots I finally got into the bios and realized that the board had raised the cpu voltage to 1.53 volts. Maybe I should just roast it over a camp fire and get it over with.
Overall Review: I have taken each individual piece of my rig and verified that they are working correctly and without errors in two other machines. I'm convinced this is a MB issue. I used gigabyte only for my last five builds with no problems. I will be going back to them. I guess rather than go through the whole RMA process I'll just pick up another board. I hope Asus appreciates my donation.
Pros: I ordered to hold me over while waiting for a AM4 bracket for another cooler. Quiet and keeps my 3950x (stock) at okay temps 38 idle and 82-84 under full load which is a bit warm (see below).
Cons: Included fan didn't light up and was a bit underwhelming in perfomance. Replaced with a higher RPM aftermarket and it works much better now. This is just enough for a 3950x if you plain on running stock. Any overclocking will require something much beefier. As stated above, I have an older H150i that I'm waiting on the updated AM4 bracket to arrive. I will eventually swap out and use this 120 one for a 3800x in another system. IMO, It should perform well with anything below a 3900x.
Overall Review: I would recommend it for the right application.
Spend More, Be Happy
Pros: They showed up quickly. The packaging was in good condition. Thanks Newegg.
Cons: The absolute worst disc I have ever purchased. They should have paid me the asking price to take them. I'm about 25 to 30 discs in and so far I've averaged a failure about every other disc. I've tried burning on five different name brand drives on two different machines. I actually replaced my main burner because I thought the problem was with it. The other annoying thing is that when one of these "discs" does manage to complete a successful burn it's a coin toss as to whether or not it will play in an actual dvd or blu ray player. I have four different players in my home and over half of the completed burns will not play in any one of them. I haven't experienced problems like this since the whole burning dvd'd process first started way back when. Thank you Rosewill for wasting my time.
Overall Review: I expect more from this name brand. This is simply unacceptable in regards to quality. I will never again stray from the brands that have perfomed flawlessly time and time again. There is a reason those other brands cost slightly more per disc.
Pros: Durable, simple to operate, inexpensive fun. Well worth the price to fly it. Pick one up you won't regret it. It's a good thing it only flies 8 to 10 minutes at a shot. I'd never get anything else done.
Cons: Did not get any extra blades in the box. They're cheap so not worth taking an egg.
Overall Review: I'm not sure what more you could ask for at this price range. My expectations have been more than met.
Worth it in my book
Pros: Coming from a monsoon air cooler and a case running 5 120mm fans that sounded like a small jet taking off every time you fired it up, this is a great alternative. Not only is my rig near silent, but I've also managed to hit 3.9GHz with my 920co and still be within temps that leave me feeling comfortable. Overall, at 3.9, I'm getting the same temps I had at 3.36 on air. 39c idle and 68c full load. The best I could ever do on air was 3.6 with idle 45c and load 80c. That was warmer than I wanted to run for daily use.
Cons: If you have no experience with builds, I wouldn't recomment this. The documentation is alright, but could be much better. I would suggest reading some of the reviews on here and at corsair before starting. It will save you some serious aggravation.
Overall Review: I've noticed the list of reviews stating damged or defective units. Mine was in perfect condition when it arrived. I just hope the unit has some longevity. I'd hate to have to replace my solid performing 920 before I'm ready to do a full upgrade. As always Newegg is simply the best!
