Pros: I ordered the first set months ago for $106 . The first set did 1700 mhz at 7 8 7 21 trimmings . If you look most of the decent gskill is 7,8,7,24 timing . Save money and get these
Cons: Don't get 9 9 9 24 . Garbage, unless you have a garbage system
Overall Review: Don't even claim high tech knowledge if you dont know 1333 is the freq that defaults . For Intel and amd . I own a computer shop and its funny listening to not so smart people rma two motherboardd . Sometimes RAM comes n bad . I blame shipping . all manufactures r the same . Do a men test . Google it . Don't trouble shoot if u don't know how, learn to test hardware and what your buying . If u don't know how to set ram buy a Walmart computer ;)
Pros: OVERCLOCKING KING, its not just marketing. I own a computer shop and have built 3 systems with this board, two from the egg and one from someone else.
GREAT OVERCLOCKING BIOS> more control then the the last $144 asus 890g something asus board. that board had the worst BIOS ever.
i have run most of the AM3 AMD cpus in this board. they all overclocked well. i was able to hit 4.175 x2 555 c3 revision CPU.
when this board comes in i am going to test the phenom II X6 and will leave a review on how this board and that cpu overclock.
Cons: none. you get what they say. if you read about this hardware then you already know what your getting if you dont like it then you move on.
Overall Review: I am a hardware specialists, i have used this board, asus, msi, evga, asrock and every other board company.
I like MSI alot, asus is soldi hardware design but garbage bios. This MSI board is awesome.
ALSO the CPU VOLTAGE control is + the base voltage not the total. i burt a athlon ii cpu thinking i was at 1.44v when in reality i was at the factory voltage + 1.44. total loss on that mart. my fault for not reading carefuly.
GREAT BOARD, if your a overclocker then get it, if not then your better off with some mainstream company that spends more on marketing so you can think your getting something better
Pros: 1 set of 3 worked
Cons: 2 of 3 sets didtnt pass memtest one stick in each set was busted
Overall Review: ive beena supporter of gskill for years.
i bought a set a month or more ago. one stick was bad. i didnt rma cus the other stick was sold in a computer so i couldnt return one without the other.
i just bought 2 more sets thinking the first was a fluke. of the two sets ones sticked failed every memtest result. DO NOT BUY THIS RAM IF U WANT RAM THAT WORKS> 66% chnce you will get at least one bad stick
Pros: overclocked dual core @4.175 vcore 1.52 cpu temp 40.5 c has been running prime 95 as i type stable for 30 mins. WOW.
Overall Review: Biostar TA890FXE runs this like no tomorrow. its stable 4.175 16.5 multi 253 fsb.
im about to try 254 next. ive tested this mobo to 282 fsb so it looks like the cpu is gona fail b4 the mobo. ill post agian when i test higher OVERCLOCKS.
Pros: WOW, i uped the vcore .1 its running at 4.2 ghz vcore 1.47.
16.5 x 255 fsb = 4.207 ghz
ram is at 1700 mhz 8 8 8 24 timmiings, gskill trident 1600 8 8 8 24
Overall Review: buy this chip if u want to overclock and fly!
this was an open box that didnt unlock but overclocks well
Pros: ok. i have maxed the fsb to 282 and could go higher with more time.
it overclocks well. i have but and semperon 140, athlon II 240 and 245 and currently a phenom II x2 555
the overclock on the phenom x2 is 4.0 ghz even 16x250.
.05 voltage increase from factory cou vcore.
runs so stable it also runs at 255x16 = 4.08 ghz with ddr3 1600 @ 1700 mhz without a hitch, same .05 voltage increase on cpu but after a few days i rebooted after a update and it said overclock failure and would load agian at 4.08 but when it did it was stable on price 95 for 11 hours.
overall greatboard with detailed overclocking control.
Overall Review: such a powerful board for a low price. i had to post a 2nd review to let the overclockers know how this handles.
also to hit these speeds i use a zalman 9900 copper cooler.
Pros: i figured being a working open boxed chip it would not unlock. im sure thats why it was rmad. knowing that i still paid 75 for it plus shiping. was less the 81 dollars.
it freezes if either core gets unlocked.
it does OVERCLOCK to 4.0 ghz 16x250 on my board.
passed prime95 for 11 hours.
i also overclocked to 4.08 stable but i rebooted after an update and is says failed overclock. it ran stable for days at that speed and passed prime 95. odd
Overall Review: im using a zalman 9900 copper cpu cooler and it runs sweet.
also the voltage is up on .05 from stock thats why its completely stable and runs cool. if i went with more volts i know this thing will run faster. my motherboard runs at 282 fbs max. Biostar TA890fxe, the board is an excellent overclocker and this chip goes fast
Pros: good ram
i build systems and this was the 2nd set. it worked fine on a ddr3 740g chipset msi motherboard and it overclocks to 1535 without a sweat. at least on that motherboard. also with that overclock the 2.9 ghz athlon two runs at 3.33 without any voltage. the ram is stable on this light overclock
bad rating but it worked fine in the low end motherboard i used.
dont buy cheap ram if you have a high end board. thats like having a vet with not so good tires :P
Overall Review: this was the 2nd set i orderd for custom low end builds. they work fine. ill order agian when i need if the price stays low. if you have the money go ahead and get decend ddr3 1600 ram.
Pros: my fsb is up to 282 on this board :P i can prob go higher but i dont want to add to much voltage to it. this board is a great for overclocking. if you plan on building a system with overclocking in mind you cant go wrong. i hope Biostar keeps building components like this cus i will keep buying them. msi and asus unless u lower your prices on the high end your only goiung to get my low end business :)
Pros: i though the ddr 5 was a typo but when i recieved the card it really was ddr5.
Cons: out of stock i couldnt order two to replace my other ddr3 xfx 4850.
Overall Review: was $89 when i bought it without a rebate. i hope they stock another one
Pros: i orderd another for the systems i sell.
Cons: whats to complaine. its inexspensve and works with minimal sound. if you get a bad drive remember that all manufacturers have room for error and sometimes "lemons" do pop out
western digital inmy opinion makes the best drives in the pc industry
Pros: yes its cheap, thats why i orderd another. great for low end systems. i use this case for computers i sell. it looks nice and my customers are happy.
Cons: finger print magnet but oh well :)
Overall Review: dont complain that its cheap , it is in fact the cheapest case/shipping combo on newegg with a ps. the power supply is fairly decent. like i stated b4 it powers an lightly overclocked amd athlon II @ 3.33ghz, a hd and a dvd burner.
Pros: good quilty constuction , orderd agian for another build
Pros: decent enough that i orderd another set :)
i hope they both work when they get here due to past reviews but the first order worked so they get another try for the next system
Pros: my last case was a antec 900. the 900 was gaudy looking and looked like a something a teenager would own. well now that im grown up( kinda) i decided to go with a more adult looking system. this is it. its just as roomy as the 900 and all the great cooling. granded the top cpu fan is 140 vs whatever the 900 had on top it still runs the system cool and quite. plus the fans plug into my centry lcd touch screen fan controler and run fine.
i like this case. antec always makes a solid quality constucted case.
i got this and a antec bp 550 ps combo for the low.
the antec ps runs my system overclocked and my single ati midrange card without an issue.
Pros: quite. powers my overclocked system.
great for single graphic card systems with an mid range card like an ati 4850 up to a 5850 probably a 5870 also
its 80plus certified
Cons: if you go with dual cards get a 650 not a con just filling space
Pros: works well. quite. fits in antec 300. comes with a large tube of thermal compound. i had ran out of artic silver 5 and realized i put it on backwards. thank zalman for that becuase i had to use the zalman compound for the 2nd install
Cons: its large but you already know that and large is good :)
Pros: WOW, looks cool, runs all my antec ( l/m/h switch fans) without the buzz sound i have read the reviews about.
i put this on a computer i resold and wow, it made it sell fast.
for $25 you are making your system seem even more exspensive plus it has function
seemed like a quality piece
Pros: well i spend to much on computer parts in a year every year so i decided to not get the msi this time around. Great board. stop crying about the pice slots. u see b4 u buy if u want a differnt settup then u know not to get this.
besides 2 cards in crossfire are all you need. 4 cards do relitivly nothing and if your running at 2500+ res then im sure youll have a intel system anyways. becuase oviously you waste money for little more performance gain and dont belive in price to performance ratio
great price/performance ratio. my ram would only overclock in the early 1800s but i knew that going into this build.
Cons: none becuase lack of usb 3.0 is already know so its not a con.
Pros: solid ram. it over clocks to 1800 mhz (amd system, my mother board maxes out in the 1800s. im sure with an intel system it can go higher). heat spreaders are solid. if you are buying your system to overclock you cant go wrong.
Pros: this is one quility little msi micro atx. one thing i like about it is it has oc switchs on the board. i set a athlon 245 at 15% and it clocked it at 3.33 ghz with the right settings on everything. yes you can oc using the bios but for customer builds u can set it and not worried about them messing with it and having to reset the bios beacuse if they do it will go right back into the oc settings due to it being ont he machanical switch :)
Pros: i orederd two. one came bad one came good. ive never had a cpu come doa. dont decide not to buy based on that. all the athlon IIs share the same silicone. something could have happend when i recived my package. i though it was the mobo but when a new cpu for a second build came in it worked.
The working one was great. solid low end cpu.
Cons: i think the first bad one was damaged in shipping. when i got my box full of stuff it was hot as can be. the index in florida was 110 the day i got it and when i opend up everything was very hot . one bad thing ,was i orderd on the 21st. new egg took their time getting it together ( next time go rush procesing)and stated i orderd on the 22nd. i recived it on the 27th. this wqas the slowest newegg order i have ever had. its not good for these kind of shipments to sit in cargo planes and hot trucks for to long.
Overall Review: good cpu, amd makes quality components. still give it 5 eggs becuase i know there is room for error on everything price of equipment made period
Pros: does what you needs it to do at a low cost.
Pros: quite worked and even came with a sata cable
Cons: they upped the price from 17.99 today to whatever it is now. i was going to buy another for a new system build
Pros: yes it is cheap, yes it has problems which are all minor but it looks nice. and sure makes people who are buying my systems look twice.
the power supply was good enough to run an athlon II 245 at 3.33 ghz without any power failure issues
Cons: quit cring about how cheap it is. yes it is cheap. i concider 29.99 very cheap. if you want something better then dont be cheap
