Works Great4/28/2015 7:02:54 AM

Pros: Installed these in a number of audio-video equipment racks and they've worked out great. AV racks tend to be much shallower then typical server racks so this model is perfect fit for us. Clients have always been happy. Perfect form factor for our application.

Cons: It would be nice to have a front panel LCD display with more status parameters instead of the basic LED indicators in the current design. The monitoring software also seems a bit cumbersome to use.

Pros: Installed a Celeron G1820 with 8G of RAM and a 128G SSD. It's been running as my home XenServer for the last few days with two Debian VMs and pfSense. So far, so good. I like the fact the there's very few extras on the motherboard. Perfect for a simple home server. Currently, only pulls about 28W at idle.

Cons: None. Very happy with this mainboard and even considering purcahsing a second one for my NAS.

Nice features, but loud fan.10/4/2013 5:50:05 PM

Pros: USB 3.0, Gig Ethernet, and DVI/HDMI output are all great features and make this a neat little machine. I loaded Fedora 19 and all features worked great with no need to download speacil drivers or anything.

Cons: The processor fan is really annoying to me. It seems to have three speeds, low, medium and high. Low is very nice and you hardily hear it. Even menium is pretty quite. But the problem is that all this machine does is alternate between medium and high about every 5 seconds regardless of how you're using the computer. There are no options for controlling the fan speed in the BIOS.

Great media player10/20/2010 9:07:10 AM

Pros: Found my Samba file server as soon as I connected it to the network. Played everything I could through at it except for one OGM file. Not sure why the OGM gave it problems but for all the good stuff the WDTV can do I don't think this one little glitch would justify knocking off an egg in the rating. I'm planning on buying a second one for my kid's TV.

Cons: Maybe a little bit more polish on the user interface... but it's still a really good interface.

Overall Review: People have mentioned that it runs hot, but I didn't notice that. Seems to run as warm as any other electronic device (dvd player, BD Player, etc.) and it cools down to room temp when you turn it off.

Pros: Nice aluminum chassis. Solid locking feel when inserting the drive sleds into the bays. Looks nice.

Cons: Be sure that you don't lose any of the custom phillips head screws for securing the drives to the sleds. Not sure where I'd find replacements if I ever misplaced them.

Overall Review: NOTE: The documentation doesn't mention this very clearly, but there are small power buttons next to each drive bay. You need to use a paper clip to depress each power button to power up the drive in that bay, otherwise you'll be left thinking your unit was DOA like I was for the first 30 minutes after I installed it.

Pros: Came with all the parts and pieces. Even has allen wrenches for installing the adapter plates and adjusting the spring tension in the arms. Solidly built, with a very nice powder coated finish. Thinking about buying another one for the office.

Cons: None
