Sharp case for the price

Rosewill R102-P-BK 120mm Fan MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Rosewill R102-P-BK 120mm Fan MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: *Looks nice minimalist front fascia and stealthed optical drives *Uses 120mm fans for effective, quiet cooling *3 5,25" bays and 2 external 3.5" are great for an matx case *Vents for CPU and video card fresh air

Cons: *Having to remove the case front to add optical drives is a pain *Only exhaust fan is included *Watch out for sharp edges, especially when removing bay and pci slot blanks *Standoffs rather than raised bumps for installing the motherboard on the tray would have been nice.

Overall Review: Building a pc for a friend and didn't want to spend much money as used gear was being installed. However, I'm well pleased with the way this rig turned out. Lots of things on this case could be better, but then we'd be paying much more for it. ;)

Most Critical Review

This takes a different cable

Sony Optiarc Combo 8X DVD-ROM 24X CD-R 24X CD-RW 24X CD-ROM Black Slim SATA Model CRX890S-10
Sony Optiarc Combo 8X DVD-ROM 24X CD-R 24X CD-RW 24X CD-ROM Black Slim SATA Model CRX890S-10

Pros: A very nice, slimline SATA combo drive.

Cons: Uses a different connector standard, called "slimline SATA."

Overall Review: It took a couple hours of research to finally figure out what to do with this drive. The other posters are correct -- this does not use the standard SATA connectors you are likely familiar with. As mentioned before, the Sony/NEC site was of absolutely no assistance. However, I finally located the standards body information and determined this is a new standard called "Slimline SATA." I was forunate enough to find a seller for a proper cable on a well-known auction site for less than ten bucks. It fit perfectly. It's a shame that NewEgg doesn't carry these. In fact, it would be a great idea for a combo deal!

Tiny Hardware with Simple Setup

Apple TV
Apple TV

Pros: You may not get a sense of how small this unit is until it's in your hand. This is a pro as it integrates everything you need in the unit without taking up space in/on your entertainment center. Apple walks you through the simple set up and configuration. Great picture on my 37" HDTV, even though it is 720p not 1080 in resolution. Streaming is smooth as silk.

Cons: Only 720p and not 1080. If they upgrade the next version, I will likely purchase it. Remote is minimalist, but it does the job. Free app can turn your iphone, ipad or ipod into a remote as well. Must use iTunes 10.1 or higher, which has become a fairly bloated program.

Overall Review: Make certain your router supports 802.11n if you plan to use this wirelessly. Have a male to male HDMI cable for connection to your television and a Cat5 or better cable to connect to your network if not using wireless.

Best Modular PSU for the Money

CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-520HX 520 W ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply
CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-520HX 520 W ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

Pros: *Solid design *Five year warranty *Easy to route modular cables *Plenty of connectors for a variety of systems *Quiet and cool *Runs continuous at the rated power with surges to higher when needed

Cons: *Some may not like the flat style cables *No colored led fans (ha!)

Overall Review: This PSU will be joining two other 520w and two 620w Corsairs that run flawlessly 24/7. I look at other brands but keep coming back to Corsair when ready to make a purchase. Newegg selection and shipping are great!

Best Case for the Money

Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Well-built case that is easy to work in. It has very good airflow potential depending on the fans you install. Provided fans adjust for extra cooling or on low for quiet. Case edges are smoothed and finish is very nice. Has an understated, classic look to it and washable airfilter up from as well. More than sufficient case hardware provided for install, except optical drives.

Cons: While the rest of the case is high-class, the power and reset buttons are somewhat cheap/flimsy. Also, better make certain you have proper sized screws for your optical drives as they aren't provided, nor is the case "tool-less."

Overall Review: The bonus bag of thumb screws was a pleasant surprise. For those who hate "headlight bright" power and hdd activity leds, this case has them, but they won't light up your room at night. Very nice. The adjustable fans for quiet are also a plus if your computer is in your bedroom and you don't want the extra noise. This case has great potential for modding if you like to customize. I've purchased three so far.

Money well spent

Sennheiser HD280 Pro Around the Ear DJ Headphones
Sennheiser HD280 Pro Around the Ear DJ Headphones

Pros: The range on these headphones is simply amazing compared to other ones I've used. The music is clear and dynamic at all comfortable volumes (not going to crank it and kill my ears!). Fit and finish is excellent and these even fold up some for storage. The circumaural fit works to keep out extraneous noise, even though these are not specifically noise-canceling headphones.

Cons: Somewhat heavier than other headphones, but that is likely due to the great quality. Similar quality in lighter headphones would probably cost much more.

Overall Review: It sure is nice to hear nuances in the music that i didn't realize were there! A major plus is that the ear cushions and cord can actually be replaced if something happened to them.
