Awesome Board!!

GIGABYTE GA-X38-DS4 LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-X38-DS4 LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: This board works great. Put it together and worked on first boot. Running Vista 64bit, Core2 6300 @ 3.1GHZ, FSB 1720 w 4*1GB @ 860MHZ 4-4-4-12. Running F2 BIOS. Will upgrade to a Core2 E8400 upon release. I am also running Raid 0 and I did not need to use a boot floppy for Vista; Vista detected and auto loaded the raid drivers for the onboard Intel ICH9R.

Cons: Only con was the product support web link on NewEgg site directed me to a support page that doesn't have the latest BIOS on it (old BIOS F1) - You can find a newer BIOS here (new BIOS F2) - http://www.giga-byte.be/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2736

Good Deal for $199

Acer K272HUL Black 27" WQHD 4ms HDMI DisplayPort Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor Built-in Speakers
Acer K272HUL Black 27" WQHD 4ms HDMI DisplayPort Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor Built-in Speakers

Pros: This monitor supports 75Hz. With NVidia just make a custom video resolution with 2560x1440x75Hz. Works great. It is supported if you check the Acer specs.

Cons: For $199 I hope no cons.

Overall Review: Black Friday $219 plus $20 promo code, paid $199.

Killer Card

GIGABYTE Radeon HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card GV-R487D5-1GD
GIGABYTE Radeon HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card GV-R487D5-1GD

Pros: Card looks great and runs great, blue PCB looks great in my clear case (I refuse to buy a red card). Native DVI, HDMI and Display Port is awsome and only card that supports all three. Temps are idle 40C and load 65C which are great. I run it at 790/4000 and no problems. Crysis runs great in DX10 and is much faster than my 4850 Toxic 512MB. 5 stars for NewEgg. 4 stars for Gigabyte because of previous card issue. Rig Specs: GigaByte X38 DS4 - E8400 @ 4GHz 8GB DDR2 @ 900MHz 4-4-4-12 4870 1GB 790/1000 - Apevia 680watt 2*250GB SATA2 Raid 0 - Vista x64 SP2

Cons: I bought this same card in January and could not get it to work properly in DX10 games and when I would play most DX10 games the sceen would flash. I sent it back for a full refund to NewEgg (thank you) and decided to buy it again and this card has worked perfectly. I looked on Gigabyte's website and see they have several models of this card with different manufacturers memory. The one I just received has Qimonda memory and BIOS dated 2/9/09. They may have fixed some problems with the newest card.

Overall Review: I had a 4850 Toxic card that worked well but ran very hot even with a pure copper Zalman. Seems a 4850 with lower clocks of 690/2200 would run at idle 45C and load 90C would run much hotter (seems strange to me). This card smokes the Toxic card. Also I started having a problem with Crysis Warhead with the Toxic card where I could not run in DX10 mode, I put this card in and my problems went away. Very happy and just bought a HannsG 27.5 LCD 1920*1200 and hoping this card with the 1GB memory will support it well.
