Couldn't be Better

Crucial M4 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT256M4SSD2
Crucial M4 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT256M4SSD2

Pros: Everything good you've ever heard about an SSD. It's been running flawlessly since I plugged it in and didn't even need the firmware updated.

Cons: So far, only the price, but still a bargain compared to many of the other OEMs. A bargain isn't what you pay but rather what you get. It isn't as fast an I expected but my expectations may have been too high from reading too many over exuberant reviews. Anyway, I didn't buy it for speed but for reliability.

Overall Review: While researching I was told I would have trouble cloning an XP boot drive to an SSD because of something called "alignment". This was a new term to me and if it is to you look it up. As it turns out I used a device & software made by a company called Apricorn available on Newegg. You'll see it bundled with some Crucial SSDs as a "transfer kit". It's also available separately and cheaper. Either way it worked perfectly and didn't seem to be at all bothered by XP. The kit consists of a proprietary USB/SATA dongle and some software. The software does have a check box for "alignment". IMHO, the kit is a bargain if you're cloning an SSD. As a precaution I have retained my old HHD in it's cloned condition just in case the SSD should start having problems.

hard to believe

BYTECC Bracket-25350 Dual 2.5" HDD/SSD Bracket for 3.5" Drive Bay or Enclosure
BYTECC Bracket-25350 Dual 2.5" HDD/SSD Bracket for 3.5" Drive Bay or Enclosure

Pros: quality material

Cons: doesn't fit

Overall Review: I design things for a living and so can tell you with some authority that these are very simple parts......at least they should be. Their purpose is to adapt one hole pattern (an SSD) to another (HDD) over a given distance (2.5" to 3.5"). Well, these mor0ns got it wrong. The did manage to get the SSD hole pattern correct and the distance is OK but the hole pattern that needs to match the hole pattern of a HDD is completely wrong. This is shameful. Certainly they must know this by now and they are still for sale.

DOA!! Or so I thought.

4-Port USB 3.0 Front Panel 3.5" Expansion Drive Bay with 20-Pin Bracket Cable & PCI-e Express USB 3.0 Adapter Card with 19/20 Pin Connector NEC Chipset Hi-Speed 5Gbps
4-Port USB 3.0 Front Panel 3.5" Expansion Drive Bay with 20-Pin Bracket Cable & PCI-e Express USB 3.0 Adapter Card with 19/20 Pin Connector NEC Chipset Hi-Speed 5Gbps

Pros: Easy to install. Very fast.

Cons: There are several drivers to choose from and no instructions as to which to pick. I would have liked at least 2 more ports on the rear panel and a LED for each port. Maybe even a red/green LED to indicate 2.0/3.0. The screw provided for the rear panel is the wrong size.

Overall Review: You need to use the install program in the folder labeled "NEC". I didn't and so I thought it was DOA until the seller put me straight. Thanks to them.

Some good, some ......different

Sennheiser Silver RS 120 3.5mm/ 6.3mm Connector Supra-aural Wireless RF Hi-fi Headphone
Sennheiser Silver RS 120 3.5mm/ 6.3mm Connector Supra-aural Wireless RF Hi-fi Headphone

Pros: reasonably priced, good sound quality, decent range

Cons: operates on 900mhz, fit is odd (see below), sensitive to position on charger, materials and controls feel cheap, tuning is difficult and easily disturbed so must be repeated often, static hissing when transmitter loses signal

Overall Review: If you study some pics of these you'll see that they have a strange shape that causes (IMHO) a poor fit. It's not necessarily uncomfortable but it feels weird. I think the reason for the strange shape is to fit properly on the charger. Specifically, the headband does not follow a straight line between the ear cups but rather is offset. The earcups themselves are not parallel to each other so they do not seal well against the ears. Also, the earcup pivots are not at right angles to the headband like every other headphones I've seen. They just don't feel right. I think this is why some people complain about them falling off. It seems like nobody at the factory ever put them on. I would return them if the sound quality weren't so good. Good wireless is hard to find at any price.

finally some progress

WD TV Live Media Player WDBHG70000NBK-HESN
WD TV Live Media Player WDBHG70000NBK-HESN

Pros: Tech support is improving

Cons: Either doesn't perform as advertised or (at least) there are incomplete setup instructions and no mechanism established to get help.

Overall Review: KUDOS to WD. They finally stepped up and did something useful to me. The anonymous person I previously mentioned had a "product specialist" call me on the phone and we managed to establish a path toward correcting this for all affected. It's not over yet but the "specialist" was extremely competent and seemed eager to help. I will post resolutions on the WD forum under the same user name.

bad lot????

Sony MDR-RF985RK Wireless RF Headphones - Black
Sony MDR-RF985RK Wireless RF Headphones - Black

Pros: I'll never know.

Cons: D.O.A. Also, it's obvious that SONY intends for this, and I suspect all their current wireless headsets, to be throw away items when the batteries die. The owner's instructions says to ask your retailer what to do when the batteries die or to take the product to a SONY store. I'm reasonably sure the retailers will also point you toward a SONY store which will undoubtedly charge you more than the headset costs to replace the batteries. The Newegg ad text mentions alkaline batteries as a potential power source. This is completely false. There are no external openings or removable panels. In the specifications list on Newegg it says the batteries are "built in". I believe this is SONY code for "not replaceable by the owner".

Overall Review: I've bought two of these locally and both were D.O.A. with the same problem. The chargers on both were non-functional. Maybe the retailer got a bad lot, I don't know but two picked at random, from different stores is no coincidence.

I did have a problem selecting the proper driver since there were several provided and no means of selecting was included. When I reported it non functional the seller was quick to respond. I'm sure I wasn't the first.
