Great cheap cable
Pros: I bought this cable for a friend when I overheard him talking about buying some overpriced store cable. Recommended this one based on my experience with some longer cables from the Link Depot, they work great. Used it to plug his PS3 to his HDTV and he is very happy. Signal is indistinguishable from some overpriced store junk. Nothing in the HD image that would make you think it is not a mega-brand one.
Overall Review: I don't understand how a certain brand gouges people for a similar cable for about $50 or more, using all this noise to describe how their product is superior when it's the exact same thing. I don't understand how there are so many video enthusiasts who swear up and down that their picture is superior because they overpaid $40+ for the same cable that I have.
Pros: I originally bought an Asus A8V but after reading the problems with using audio cards and the way the IRQs are shared I decided to go with this one. Besides being a good board it was not based on the VIA chipset that I was trying to avoid. Since I'm not that heavily into gaming anymore and most to the praises revolved around its stability I decided to go for it.
Cons: Board was DOA. Keep getting one long beep, pause and another beep. Know it's not the memory since my other machine works fine with it. The capacitors were way too close to the DIMM slots so I hada hard time intalling the memory with heatsinks and finally crushed one, so the DOA is probably my fault. Going to get another board though.
Overall Review: Will review again when I get the new board
Excellent Low Cost, High Performance Case
Pros: I've had my eye on this case for a while and bought it at a local PC store. This case is quite simple in appearance and IMHO would appeal to the average user as well as the hardcore game. I had an older Antec case but it could not accomodate 120 fans and I was not in the mood to mod my case so I picked up this baby. As you can see from the pics it is a very simple design but don't let that fool or it's size fool you. Actually it surprised I have 3 HDDs, 2 DVD-RWs, full ATX, ATI 4870 vid card, HT Omega Striker, ATI Theatre Pro, a USB port bracket and a fan controller for a couple of extra 120mm fans and they all fit comfortably in the case. Depending on your card you could use the top HDD bay but I decided not to since there was room to spare and left it empty. Stylish because of a simple design I think would appeal to those who want a cool ( in both senses) case but are more interested in what's under the hood than what's outside. Get it, you won't be dissapointed
Cons: Not really a con but I do agree that the power/reset buttons do feel kind of flimsy for a case this solid, but not worth knocking an egg off. I would have bought it from Newegg but with the cost and shipping I could have bought two of these cases locally. Nothing against newegg though, they are always great.
Overall Review: Installed 2 Rosewill 120mm fans in front and set the included 120mm and 140 fansmm to medium and low respectively. Even so whole system is pretty quiet compared to my old system. I would guestimate about 60 to 70 % quieter. Before I could hear my PC in my living room of my 1 room bedroom apt. After installing this case it took me a couple of days before I got used to how quiet it was. This case is very well designed on the inside. Even with all the stuff I have in mine everything fits comfortably, not snug, squeezed or forced in. Cable management really helps keep things tidy and airflow optimal. A couple of things to clarify is that mine came with the front filter, don't know if maybe they didn't at first. Also, there are power and indicator lights right next to the reset button. Both are blue and a little bright in a dark room for how small they are but they do have them. Just cover them with some electrical tape. :-)
Pros: Great controller. I was looking for something similar to a 360 controller and this one fit the bill perfectly. The rubber grips and the joystick locations make playing FPS games more comfortable. Size is somewhere between a PS3 and a 360 controller. Wish it would have been at least the size of a 360 controller but it is still loads better than the PS3 controller.
Overall Review: It uses a USB RF receiver. I have not found this to affect performance in any way. So you lose a USB port, big deal. It's not like you use them a lot anyways, not me at least.
Great cheap, quiet fans
Pros: I just recently bought an Antec 300 case and purchased these fans to incease the air circulation without increasing the noise level based on reviews. A perfect match. After installing these I couldn't believe how quite my PC is, combined with the Antec case it is about 60% more quiet. I keep checking the case to make sure the fans are actually turning. It has fan controlers and an adapter so you can use either the system fan header on the motherboard or a regular 4-pin molex.
Cons: Not a real con on the product but to make shipping on these fans reasonable you should buy 3 at least. Shipping on a single fan is almost as much as the fan!
Overall Review: I have one running on the mobo fan header and another on via the regular 4-pin and to me, it's still whisper quiet. Some of the customers complaining about these being loud must be cranking it up all the way and expecting not to hear anything or maybe they're too sensitive to noise.
Pros: I'm not very knowledgeable about RAM timings and such but I can tell you that this is great RAM for the price. I already had 2Gs of the same brand installed and when I upgraded to Vista 64 I decided to take advantage of it being able to use all 4Gs. System runs smoothly and have not had any problems
Overall Review: none
