Great card

MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G
MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G

Pros: Absolutely chews up any game I have thrown at it. I am running ESO at 1080p max settings and it runs butter smooth. Absolutely zero coil wine. Running cool and quiet. I am using Precision x to set a custom fan curve (using default precision x curve), the card idles at 31degrees, and is maxing out at 49degrees! And it is still silent inside of a case. As others have noted, mine is also boosting past listed specs to 1316mhz at its stock settings, AWESOME! Beautiful color scheme matches my MSI z87 GD65 motherboard and case lighting. Lite up MSI logo and dragon on the side (white). Two DVI connectors which I prefer over HDMI. I don't use monitor speakers. Military class 4 components (meet MIL-STD-810G regulations), which are designed to provide higher stability, lifespan, and efficiency.

Cons: No back plate.....I almost bought another brand because of this. But the Gigabyte card is way long, and the Asus card is limited by the single 8 pin power connector. The card does sag a little in the slot, but only a little. By default, the fans do not spool up till the card hits 65degrees, then shut back off at 50degrees. Besides shortening the life span of the card (simple physics, the hotter something runs, the quicker it degrades), this dumps unnecessary heat into your case. Heat that the rest of your components have to deal with. Fortunately, both Precision x and MSI afterburner allow you to override this making for an almost perfect video card.

Overall Review: Compared to its peers (Gigabyte, Asus, and EVGA); Second best cooler (Gigabyte has the best if you can fit it). Best power delivery system. The best components. Second best oc of the $349 cards (though everybody seems to be getting at least 1316 boost at stock which ties it for best). After considering the above points, I decided on this card. I am glad I did, this card ROCKS!!!

Decent

Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes
Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Quiet fan. Fits low profile cases. Ram clearance is sufficient to clear Ripjaw series x ram.

Cons: Heat pipes are not flush with the base of the cooler. This requires the use of more thermal paste than a typical cooler. Thermal paste is not as good a heat conductor as direct contact limiting the performance of this cooler.

Overall Review: I used this in a low profile build for my son. I later moved his system into a larger case as the thermals were just too much for the small case. We are now running identical systems, but I am using the Cooler Master GeminII S524 - CPU Cooler and my system is running 8c cooler. I know....low profile vs, however, if you look at the fin array, the surface area is very similar, and the fans are the same. It really comes down to the base of the coolers, the 524 is a flat base, this one is not!

Good colors, great refresh rate, curved gimmick!

LG 34UC89G 34" Black Bezel-less Full HD 21:9 2560 x 1080 2K 144Hz Refresh Rate, 5ms Response Time IPS Curved LED G-Sync Gaming Monitor, On-Screen Control, HDMI, DisplayPort, Screen Split
LG 34UC89G 34" Black Bezel-less Full HD 21:9 2560 x 1080 2K 144Hz Refresh Rate, 5ms Response Time IPS Curved LED G-Sync Gaming Monitor, On-Screen Control, HDMI, DisplayPort, Screen Split

Pros: Nice screen, no ghosting, decent color. This monitor has good color representation, not perfect by any means, but good enough! G-sync is such a game changer, I am willing to put up with the curve just to have it. As to the resolution, if you are good with a 27" 1080p monitor, then you will be good with this. This monitors screen size is the exact same height as a 27". In my opinion, 1080p ultrawide is the best gaming resolution as a GTX 1070 can push this resolution with all eye candy enabled. If you want 1440p ultrawide, then you would be better served with a GTX 1080, though Gsync will make the 1070 playable even at 1440p.

Cons: It's curved! I own both curved and flat screen ultra wide monitors. Curved does NOT make it more immersive, the ultra wide aspect ratio does that. When gaming or watching a movie, you don't notice the curve, for productivity you will. While I would definitely prefer flat screen, I will say you get used to the curve. For the most part I don't really notice it anymore.

Overall Review: Setting up G-sync: open the Nvidia control panel and enable G-sync. The option will appear once a G-sync monitor is detected. For me, I found Enable G-sync for windowed and full screen mode to be unreliable. I kept having to change to full screen and back to get it to work, and some times it would stutter horribly. If you can see your task bar, you are in windowed mode. If you cannot see your task bar, then G-sync considers it full screen. Once I set it to, enable G-sync in full screen mode (only), it has worked without a hitch. V-sync should be enabled in game as this allows v-sync to enable when you hit the monitors refresh rate cap (144hz/fps for this monitor). Otherwise, your graphics card may push higher frames than your monitor can display introducing tearing. G-sync is only enabled when you are running below the monitors refresh rate, as then the graphics card sets the monitors refresh rate. It makes gaming butter smooth from 143fps all the way down to 45fps. While there is no tearing below 45fps, you can see it is not smooth. G-sync is worth the investment!

Great design, not so great reliability!

Logitech G602 910-003820 11 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB RF Wireless Optical 2500 dpi Gaming Mouse
Logitech G602 910-003820 11 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB RF Wireless Optical 2500 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: This is a very comfortable mouse to use. The thumb rest is a great idea that other manufacturers should emulate. The side buttons are fully programmable and spaced in a way that reduces miss clicks. The side buttons come to an edge making them a little less than comfortable to use. They do not hurt to use, just not comfortable. The two extra buttons on the left side of the left mouse button are also programmable allowing you to override its default settings as the dpi presets. The Logitech software is simply the easiest ui I have used for gaming peripherals. The mouse comes with a usb extension cable which I used to place the dongle within a couple of feet of the mouse. I have not had a single disconnect issue. Battery live is exemplary, I get a good 8 or so months out of them. I game approximately 5 hours a night!

Cons: I have purchased 3 of these, two for me and one for my son. To date, 2 out of three mice have had a failure with the middle click on the scroll wheel. My sons is still fine as he does not use the middle wheel click! I will try to use the warranty for repair/replacement, but by the reviews I have seen, I am not going to hold my breath.

Overall Review: If not for the reliability issue with the middle mouse wheel button, I would whole-heartedly suggest this mouse. I love this mouse so much that I went ahead and ordered another while I wait for replacement of the two failed units. If you have disconnect issues, move the dongle out from behind your metal case. This is what Logitech supplies the extension cable for!

Do we really need it dead silent?

ASUS GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support G-SYNC Support Video Card STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5
ASUS GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support G-SYNC Support Video Card STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5

Pros: Maxwell architecture, included back plate, metal shrouds, 6 phase power delivery system with digital power control, and high end components.

Cons: Fans don't spool up until it hits 65 degrees....Seriously!!! This is not a media center card, there is absolutely no reason to put silence before longevity! Simple fact; the warmer electronics run, the shorter their life span. It's simple physics!!! They should set a conservative fan curve instead. Say start the fans at 25% and ramp them to 100% at the GPU's throttle point. Still would have a silent card in a case, but it would run cooler throughout its load range.

Overall Review: My Asus GTX 670 with, direct cu cooler, was set from the factory at 19% fan speed to 60 some degrees where it would start ramping up. It was running at 68 degrees playing ESO on high settings. I used EVGA'S precision x to set a software controlled fan curve starting at 40% ramping to 100% at 90 degrees. I still cannot hear the card and it runs 12 degrees cooler under the same load!

Pretty good

Corsair Air Series AF140 140mm Red LED Quiet Edition High Airflow Fan (CO-9050017-RLED )
Corsair Air Series AF140 140mm Red LED Quiet Edition High Airflow Fan (CO-9050017-RLED )

Pros: Moves alot of air. LED's are a true red. Start at 5v every time!

Cons: Not well balanced, do vibrate just enough to make them audible even at 5v.

Overall Review: I now have 4 of these installed, and all of them share the same deficiency as well as pluses. These are the loudest fans in my case, not annoyingly so, just NOT silent. I replaced the stock case fans with these because the stock fans didn't always start at 5v, these do. Overall satisfied, would have given 5 stars if they were silent/balanced!
