I read that this scroll wheel is not bidirectional - does this mean you cannot scroll up and down with it?

You can scroll up and down with it just fine, I believe "bidirectional" refers to the middle mouse button being able to be moved to the left and right as well as up and down, to move horizontally instead of just vertically.

Does the mouse have plugging in capabilities for long-term gaming in stationary locations?

Unlike the previous 700s, the G602 is not a wired/wireless model.  However, the selling feature of the mouse is up to 250 hours per set of batteries, even in  Performance mode.  If you really want the option of wired/wireless in a gaming mouse, look into the 700s (not the older 700), otherwise consider the Performance Mouse MX.  I have been very happy with the G602 so far, and the Performance MX before that.

Can you change the DPI?

Yes, you can adjust the DPI in several ways. Straight out of the box (after installing the software from Logitech) the two grey buttons you see on the far left of the device (aside the left click button) are the default DPI adjustment buttons. You can easily macro any of the buttons on this device to adjust DPI. There is also a very advanced DPI settings within the software, this allows you to set the breakpoints for acceleration and tweak the precision.

Question 4

This is the first "expensive" mouse I'm considering. I did a lot of searching, and the only thing that bugs my mind is this: I generally hold the mouse between my thumb and pinky, and other three fingers float over the buttons. Will I be able to do tat with this mouse without triggering any of the G buttons on the left side? Is there enough space between G buttons and the thumb rest so my thumb can have full contact with the left wall?

Bonus: I like big mice. My hands are 20 cms from wrist to the tip of middle finger. Will this be comfy for me?

Hello! I remember researching a TON about mice and it was hard to find answers. I am coming from a G5 mouse to this G602. I bought it September, 17 2013, and I'm very happy with it!

I was actually exactly like you, holding my G5 with thumb and pinky and able to easily pick it up off the table when needed.

For reference my hand dimensions are:

wrist to tip of middle finger: 19+ cm (7.5 inches)
width of distal thumb joint: 2.5 cm (1 inch)
stretched out fingers thumb tip to pinky tip: 21.6 cm (8.5 inches)

1. Yes, you can pick up the mouse with with thumb and pinky without pressing any side buttons. The side mouse buttons are solid and I can't think of a time where I accidentally pressed a button. They are also super easy to navigate without looking.

Side note, the mouse can actually be picked up while the thumb is completely on the side buttons (not the side wall at all), and not actually press any buttons.

HOWEVER,
I had to change my previous way of holding the mouse from thumb and pinky to thumb and ring+pinky fingers. After a couple days, I became perfectly used to and comfortable with it.

This change is because the mouse tends to be a bit back heavy, and will actually point upwards if using your thumb and pinky only (with less than about a 1/3 lb of gripping force). The ring finger stops this from happening. I even use one battery at a time to minimize the weight, and use the battery slot closest to the thumb as well. Use rechargeable batteries!

2. The thumb rest and side wall can accommodate my thumb without pressing against any buttons. When I pick up the mouse the the underside of the bottom 3 buttons tend to act as an anchor for my thumb, allowing me to use virtually no griping force to pick the mouse up off the table. Very handy (no pun intended) if you ask me.

What is the max range from the transceiver?  I am looking to use this at around 6-7ft away from my computer.

The quick answer to your question is yes, it can handle 6 to 7 feet away from the receiver, no problem. To answer your question, I actually took my laptop, hooked it up to my big screen TV and set my laptop on the floor, and with a tape measure, measured how far away from the receiver the mouse was. It worked up till 20 feet. It might work further than that, but my living room wasn't big enough to allow me to test for that unless I could walk through walls.

I have constantly struggled with finding the right mouse because of my large hands. What are your thoughts on the size of this particular mouse?

I don't have large hands; about 9 in span.  But I found this mouse to feel really cheap and not as responsive as the G502.  The wheel is terrible and the thumb buttons are difficult to map to regular back/forward use.  Have you tried all the demo ones at electronic stores?

Somehow my questions tend to disappear, I'll ask again, just in case.

i) This mouse's buttons (especially the wheel click function) are reportedly short-lived. Has anyone used this mouse for more than 1 year without problems?

ii) If somehow the buttons turn out to be short lived, is it possible to assign any function to any button? i.e. Can one assign left click to one of the G buttons, and the wheel click function to one of those little gray buttons next to the left click?

iii) My hands are 20cms from wrist to the tip of middle finger. Will this mouse feel comfy? I like big mice.

iv) I tend to use (and move) my mice with my thumb and pinky on either side, remaining fingers hovering over buttons. Is there enough space between the G buttons on the left and the thumb rest? Will I be able to rest my thumb with it fully touching the left-side wall, without triggering any G buttons?

iii) I have long fingers and this mouse is perfect for me but YMMV
iv) There is a nice platform on the left for resting your thumb that is plenty large enough to not press any of the side buttons. And there is an indent on the right that makes gripping between pinky & thumb perfect.

Does Logitech have any wireless keyboards that are compatible with this mouse's 500hz receiver?

I'd like to stay all wireless, but I don't want 2 logitech programs running on my computer at the same time.

I own have the Logitech G602 and I also have the Logitech Performance MX. I received a notice from Newegg that a customer was asking a question in relationship to this mouse alongside Logitech keyboard software running an additional mouse and Logitech keyboard. I lost that email because I been in process of reinstallation so that person is here in this forum part of the answer you’re looking for is within my review.

I have already called Logitech about the problem I’m sure it would help if other people who are finding similar patterns of response from their computer system environments to contact them also with regards the Logitech G602.

My findings with the Logitech G602 are as follows: while not unify, if being used alongside Logitech keyboard and Logitech Bluetooth mouse, you will not be able to get into your bios because there will be no mouse function. It appears as though the main keyboard and mouse button is what most systems will refer to in default. What I mean by is even if I have the Logitech Bluetooth keyboard and mouse settings on and the Logitech G602 on I can’t get into my bios. The workaround for this is just to disconnect the radio button associated with the Logitech G602 and everything works fine; I can then get into my bios and use the standard mouse that’s made it to the keyboard, and then after I get back into my system I can just reconnect the radio button and use the 602. It doesn’t matter whether you install the specific Logitech G602 software or not installing the software will not enable you to use it alongside automated mouse and keyboard radio button.

That being stated, as you can tell from the photograph that I sent you I keep the 602 handy because the left and right and wheel button work so beautifully it’s a shame the Logitech performance MX can even match that standard as it should being what it is, some of the extra functions on the Logitech G602 are great they can assist me with some productivity things and I am not a gamer, the only downside with the Logitech 602 is it’s too small if they would’ve The curve and the size in the performance MX with the mechanisms of the left and the right and the wheel in of the 602 along with some of the other button functions that are additional, the performance MX would be a perfect mouse, but alas apparently Logitech didn’t see it that way and I don’t particularly enjoy owning two mouses.

Just so that you understand I’m running Windows 7 64-bit ultimate on an Asus CG 8350. A for those of you who only 8350 this additional piece of information might be helpful to you you cannot use Logitech or any other radio button Bluetooth mouse and keyboard during initial setup or reinstallation of the operating system on this machine as it will create a pronounced driver problem in terms of CPU usage. The workaround for this is to use the wired mouse and wired keyboard associated with the unit until you most of the Windows update packages in, and then at that point I will install Logitech keyboard software along with any other Logitech utilities that I have, in order to avoid having to reinstall the system again to have normal CPU idle.

That being stated I have found no major conflict in running both the Logitech G602 and the Logitech performance MX mated with Logitech’s K 800 keyboard but it is correct the Logitech G602 will not unify with the keyboard software or unification button or whatever they call it. In summation the Logitech G602 is what the Logitech performance MX should be in terms of feel mechanisms and performance and especially battery usage, if I could magically move my Logitech 602 into the Logitech performance MX it would be the perfect size for my hand.

Does this mouse have RGB lights?

It does not. The light under the mouse wheel just indicates whether the mouse is in low power mode(green), or high power mode(blue). Amazing mouse though I've had it for over two years now and I have never had a single problem. Battery life is amazing, Bluetooth connection is perfect, and all around comfortable and well functioning mouse, especially for gaming.
