COD4 skinned, but still enjoyable!

NVIDIA Gift Call of duty - World at war
NVIDIA Gift Call of duty - World at war

Pros: Despite what you may hear, this is still a pretty good game. It essentially is COD4 with different skins and different weapons, more custom classes, but it's good. As long as they don't milk WWII again, this is a pretty decent game.

Cons: Number one complaint among everyone is probably the spawn points. You will spawn in the middle of a firefight and die instantaneously multiple times in a game. Hoping they'll patch that up..

Overall Review: Waiting for MW2!

MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II/OC
MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II/OC

Pros: 1. Very powerful yet very cool compared to my previous EVGA GTX 470. (BF3 at 1080p, ultra textures, high everything else, AA off, AO off, motion blur off; FPS ranges from 65 to 100s, temps in the mid 60C range) 2. Looks nice, matches the other black/steel colored components in my case. 3. Fans are extremely quiet **until one fan started going bad recently, see cons!**

Cons: 1. After only 3 months of ownership, one of the fans is starting to fail. Between fan speeds of 47%-76% in MSI Afterburner, I get a very irritating rattling noise. This noise is not being caused by dust buildup, nor are the blades hitting the shroud/heatsink. This is extremely irritating, especially for a build that was designed to be cool and quiet. 2. I also started getting weird instances of the video card losing it's video output to my monitor, only to regain signal a few seconds later. I get a driver error message, saying the NVIDIA driver crashed. This has happened 3 or 4 times so far (using the latest NVIDIA drivers) in the past two weeks. 3. How do I RMA this thing?? Today I called for an RMA at 1-626-271-1004, extension 2. I'm put on hold because the reps are busy, but after 5 minutes of being on hold I get redirected to the main menu. I've called four times today, only to get redirected again and again. Hopefully a rep from MSI sees this post and contacts me dire

Overall Review: All of my previous cards (8600GT, 8800GT, GTX 260 c216, GTX 470) have been EVGA branded, and to have my first hiccup with a different brand this early is quite a concern. I've owned and used MSI motherboards without any trouble, hopefully this isn't an issue for the remaining life of the card. I want to like this card, as it is significantly cooler and quieter than any EVGA card out there, but this early RMA leaves a sour taste in my mouth so to speak. It would be nice if MSI had longer warranties. On an unrelated note, MSI should consider a trade-up program like EVGA.. because if I had the chance, I'd trade this card up in a heartbeat if it helped to get me a more reliable card.

It's no Sidewinder x4

ROCCAT ROC-12-701 ISKU Keyboard
ROCCAT ROC-12-701 ISKU Keyboard

Pros: - Nice blue backlight (but see cons!) - Medium height keys like the Sidewinder x4 - Many profiles for macros - Wrist-wrest is very nice - Keys are quieter than the x4

Cons: - The blue LEDs composing the backlight are poorly placed. If you are hovering over the keyboard from above, it looks excellent. However, once the keyboard is set up in front of you and you are looking down at it at an angle, a lot of the keys appear to only be half-illuminated due to the design of how the LEDs diffuse their light - If the backlight is off, it is extremely hard to see the letters on the keyboard (not important for me, but a heads up to those who aren't touch-typists and have to see the keyboard) - Multimedia buttons don't have a backlight! Using them in the dark is impossible, you will have to turn on a nearby light or memorize the order of the buttons - Build quality could be better.. it feels cheaper and lighter than a Sidewinder x4, which shouldn't be the case given the premium price of this keyboard - The T1 T2 and T3 thumb buttons have different clicking sounds (T1 is louder than T2, which is louder than T3), though this is getting really nitpicky.

Overall Review: Roccat ought to tell its engineers to go back to the drawing board on this one, and take a note from Microsoft on LED placement and backlit media buttons. For the price premium of this keyboard, some of these flaws should not exist! I wouldn't recommend this keyboard unless the pros I've listed outweigh any potential cons you may have. This review is my initial impression of the keyboard, I'll definitely revise in the future as warranted. I'll be using this keyboard in FPS games like BF3 and Tribes: Ascend, and RPGs like Diablo 3, and I'll report back on how good the key rollover is compared to the x4. So far this impulse buy was a bad buy, and I'm beginning to have second thoughts. No promo shirt can fix this!

NZXT Crafted Series Vulcan Black Steel / Plastic Gaming mATX Computer Case
NZXT Crafted Series Vulcan Black Steel / Plastic Gaming mATX Computer Case

Pros: Excellent case. Mesh really makes it breathe, temperatures are slightly cooler than when my components were in the CM Storm Scout, a much larger case with more room for airflow. Extremely lightweight, great for a lan rig, though I question how study the handle is relative to the CM Storm Scout. I still use two hands to carry this thing.

Cons: The orange LEDs, you either hate them or love them. I was aiming for a blue/white/black build, but the orange LEDs mess it up. Still trying to find tutorials on how to replace the orange LEDs. Would also be nice if NZXT sold the same fans, but with different colored LEDs. The 200mm side panel fan will only accomodate the NZXT branded fan. Other fans are slightly off on the screw-holes. Handle could be a bit sturdier. Takes a lot of faith to trust four short screws..

Battlefield 3 Limited Edition PC Game
Battlefield 3 Limited Edition PC Game

Pros: Excellent game, most bugs have been fixed, weapons have been balanced fairly well.

Cons: Recently Punkbuster has been having problems, so many users are getting kicked from servers despite not running any hacks. I believe Dice/EA said this would be resolved by the weekend. Initially wasn't a fan of Origin nor Battlelog, but it's grown on me. The lack of in-game menus for multi/campaign/co-op is still weird.

LG 32" 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV
LG 32" 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV

Pros: Purchased it on sale, so it was a good price at the time. Definitely wouldn't purchase it for the price listed now, there's plenty of competitors with much cheaper sets. That said, LG has incredible customer service. 1. Received the TV, powered on but wouldn't display a picture. Chatted with LG support, they sent a technician since this set was still under warranty. Replaced all the components except the LCD panel, still didn't work. Technician didn't have a spare panel on him at the time so he came back the next day, replaced it, and it's been working great since! Didn't charge me a dime!

Cons: Wasn't able to use it out of the box, but fortunately had it resolved without paying a single cent. One thing I really don't like is the fact that the TV has no buttons. You lose the remote, you're going to have to purchase another one just to operate the TV. The TV isn't all that thin, so I don't know why the chose to forego buttons for power, volume, channel, etc.
