Pros: The major pro is that this card is amazing. It's over twice as amazing as my 7600GT. 3DMARK05(c) Scores increased from 5855 with the 7600 to 14052, 3DMARK06(c) Scores increased from 3388 to 8842 at stock frequencies. The best part of this is that it stays stable at overclocked frequencies. I overclocked it with the catalyst control panel from stock to 720 MHZ and 950 MHZ ( Which are the max that the program allows and it stayed completely stable ) Granted it generated more heat, but it increased 3DMARK05(c) to 14480 and 3DMARK06(c) to 9244.
Cons: The cons of this card have been stated already many times but I will shed the light on what I Have experienced. In installing the newest drivers from ATI(c) I noticed that the drivers were corrupted and don't seem to work well with this card. Orange glows can be seen around all letters and random spots of red appear with the everything stock. The Drivers that come on the CD with this card though are perfect and work great. Another large thing is the heat issue, at stock this card actually doesn't give off as much heat as I thought when reading what other people have written. The card does get hotter when you are running it overclocked to the highest frequency's it can handle, hot being around 80ish in my box, which is in a relatively cold basement. However if you keep it at stock frequencies which I have reset it too, the heat really isn't that big of a deal. Another thing to note is that R IvaTUNER(c) will allow you to set your fan speeds but one thing that I have noticed is
Overall Review: ...from cont... that if you set the fan speed on the card to anything about 50 you can hear it, and I MEAN YOU CAN HEAR IT. At 100 percent fan speed the card sounds like a little mini vacuum cleaner in my box. I set the fan speed to 50Percent and that seems to keep it nice and cool. Overall for the price this card is ridiculously amazing and is something that I would def. invest in again, Just use the drivers that come with it if you have problems with the newest release of drivers from earlier this month.
Defective Keyboard Turns Power House into Sad Panda
Pros: The hardware n this laptop is wonderful for the price, there is no arguing that. The overall laptop is a bit BULKY, however when you're looking for power, that's not really an issue. The screen looks wonderful and the 3D while gimcky is impressive when it's at work. I personally prefer glossy screens however asus has decided on a Matte "NON REFLECTIVE" screen in this laptop. I bet you're wondering why this review has given this laptop only 1 egg? You will have to read the Cons Section.....
Cons: The one major major major con with this laptop is that the one I received has a defective keyboard. Now usually I would chaulk this up to a random very unlikely occurrence of having a lemon, however after googling the G74SX series and inputting the words Keyboard Issue you will find the same forums where multiple users are complaining about bad batches of keyboards going out. What happens is, when tryng to type the letter "I" or press "Backspace" and sometime with the letter "o" if you do not push down on the button like you REALLY mean it, the button will not catch. Every word that i've typed here I've had to re-type multiple times, and when the backspace doesn't even work half the time, I might as well just get out a pen and paper. Ask yourself, what is the MOST important part of a laptop? The INPUT, if there can be no accurate input there can be no accurate output.
Overall Review: On a side note, I've updated Bios / Firmware / Reinstalled OS / Software... I've done this only to satisfy the "TECHS" at asus, even after I had already informed them, that when I simply plug in a desktop USB keyboard there is NO ISSUE at all with typing. I'm not sure how many bad keyboards there are floating around out there, but I know that after spending 1800+ on a very nice laptop and after seeing the number of other people complaining on the web with the same issue and the same laptop, I'm not wanting to get a replacement.... Asus has notified me that I will need to send the laptop back so they can "Inspect" and "Replace" the keyboard if necessary. So that's 3-5 Days shipping it to them, up to 14 days they claim for them to get around to replacing the keyboard, and then another 3-5 days for them ship the laptop back to me. That's almost a month I will now be with out this 1800+ piece of equipment that I bought the 2 year extended warranty on.... Sigh ... good luck if u buy 1..
Pros: I've used this pad for almost a year now, and for the most part it's a pretty decent mouse pad. It's extremely smooth with any mouse and holds together fairly well.
Cons: The main problem is, if you scratch it even slightly it makes it appear dirty, it's extremely difficult to clean, and once it gets scratched it almost ALWAYS looks slightly dirty, even if you follow the instructions to clean it. Another problem is that the threads on the ends of the mouse pad start to fray after not much use. The BIGGEST problem with this mouse though, and why it only gets 3 EGGS, is because the title clearly states " XTRAC RIPPER OPTICAL MOUSE PAD " and then goes to state under 100 percent compatible devices as " LASER " MICE, I used a Razer Copper Head at ranging Sensitivitys Everything from 200 DPI to 400 DPI, and when making small motions, as in Photoshop or Delecate Flash programs the thing is jumpy as hell. I haven't been able to test it out with a optical mouse, but I'm betting it will work a hell of a lot better.
Overall Review: I did buy this item on newegg.
Best Case Ever?
Pros: Air Flow / Case Design / Looks. Honestly this case has it all. When moving my parts from my old box to this one I have never had as easy a time or had as much fun as I did with this case. It's sleek, it's sexy, it has BEYOND amazing cable management capabilities and it was 140 shippied.... what more could you possibly ask for. I would suggest buying this before the 15th in order to get that nice 20 percent off!
Cons: The LED fans that I recieved on the front of the case are different colors. The top fan is an aqua blue color of LED and the bottom one has 2 Aqua LEDS and 1 Bluish Purple LED, and the middle fan has all blueish purple LEDS. It' creats a non-uniform design which is a little annoying, but that's just probably manufacturing defects on the LED manuf. not on Antec. The leds work and fans work though so what more can I ask for. They even have fan CONTROLS ON THE FRONT!.
Overall Review: I've been looking a this case for a few months now, everyday debating on buying it, and I'm so glad I Did. I read some nonsense about others saying the Fan Filters in the front are hard to get out, but they really aren't a few screw drivers and 2 minutes of time and they are clean and back in the case. It's a wonderful design and extremely well thought out. I would buy it again anyday.
Glossy White Shiny Amazingness
Pros: The tilt adjustment on this monitor is very nice and has a wide range of motion - you can't move it up and down for height adjustment but there is really no need for this in most cases. The monitor is super clear and bright too boot. The colors are very vivid if not too much so on some settings. Has graphics presets for video/graphics/text that allow for on the fly tuning which are really handy and neat. The graphics settings by far looks the best. The resolution is amazing, and 0 DEAD/STUCK pixels. PRICE! IS AMAZING !
Cons: There aren't any con's that I've seen yet. A little light bleeding on black screens from the top, but this can be expected and is the norm on most monitors I've seen. The screen is so glossy I can see myself in it and I love it to death no not because I love seeing myself but because it makes the screen look amazing. Monitor does get a little warm in the back, but that's merely because it is SOO amazing :) The colors are very blue at stock, but the multitude of options and color tweaks make this not a con-
Overall Review: If you're thinking of buying this monitor for graphics related work or gaming I would say go ahead. I played CS:Source on this and it made taking down people from across the map a cinch. The response time is more then adequte and the screen just looks amazing. I also do graphical work and the size of the screen is really amazing for working with large or multiple graphics.
Great Stick, Great Price
Pros: It's cheap! Dirt Cheap, It works wonderfully and can copy files to itself extremely fast. *(replaced my lost mobilematedrive)* White color is very attractive.
Cons: That is wasn't free? Not a con! This drive rocks!
Overall Review: If you need a drive for school, or for transferring game files/documents, this is perfect!
