Most Favorable Review

Good, servicable monitor

HP LE1911 Silver 19" 5ms LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 1000:1
HP LE1911 Silver 19" 5ms LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 1000:1

Pros: Good monitor for the price. Just plug it in and off it goes--the auto-adjustment software was already loaded, I didn't have to adjust a thing.

Cons: Colors are not as "vibrant" as some other monitors I've had. Like all HP monitors I've seen, the color gray has a yellow tinge.

Overall Review: I bought this monitor for presumed HP reliability---I've never had a monitor last much past the warranty expiry date. BTW, "D-sub connectors" (as shown in the specs) are VGAs.

Not a Worry

NETGEAR WGR614 Wireless-G Broadband Router 802.11b/g up to 54Mbps/ 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Port x4
NETGEAR WGR614 Wireless-G Broadband Router 802.11b/g up to 54Mbps/ 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Port x4

Pros: Although I noticed some older negative reviews, this router (version 9) works just fine. I was particularly pleased with its range; It's 90' to the other end of my house where I got 2 signal strength bars on a Mac laptop.

Cons: Nothing of significance.

Overall Review: I had no experience with routers, and found the quick start guide misleading. Read the first part of the complete user manual first before you do anything. I couldn't get the auto install to work, and used the very simple manual install instead.

Speakers Worthless

Acer 19" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 8 ms D-Sub, DVI AL1917ABMD
Acer 19" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 8 ms D-Sub, DVI AL1917ABMD

Pros: I've had my AL1917 about three months now. Good picture, no bad pixels. It took awhile, but I finally got the picture tuned to something that looks pretty good (use the "cool" setting).

Cons: The speakers have turned out to be far worse than I initially thought. Even tho I would accept poor sound quality, I didn't expect volume to be a problem...95% of the time the volume is so low that you can't hear anything (even with PC's software settings cranked to the max). The speakers are pretty much unusable...if you want any sound at all, you're going to have to plug in an auxiliary set.

Worth the Price

Acer 19" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 8 ms D-Sub, DVI AL1917ABMD
Acer 19" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 8 ms D-Sub, DVI AL1917ABMD

Pros: No dead pixels (yea!), good "picture" though not superb. Stand OK, good enough in most situations. Auto settings pretty much on target, but default "Warm" washes out contrast, I changed to "Cool"...much better.

Cons: Speakers OK fidelity-wise, but not enough volume...only the person in front of the monitor can really hear. If NewEgg combined shipments like Jeff Bezo's company (begins with A), my other purchase of a flash drive could have been tossed in the box and saved me $5 shipping.

Overall Review: My old BenQ had a "more brilliant" picture, and better speakers, but it cost $xxx for a 17 incher. For the price, this Acer's really pretty good. No complaints from this member of the peanut gallery.
