I'm thinking about buying (1) speaker to use as a center speaker. Any thoughts?

Hi Ron, it would probably work fine, I have the Mythos 2 as L/R and the Mythos 3 as the center - when  I was testing them out with pink noise to set the levels, they all sounded pretty much the same to me.  I have not tried it as a center though.  The issue you might have is that the top and bottom of this speaker is not symmetrical - the bottom is flat (for the table top bracket) and the top is cut at an angle - so it might look funny. Also not sure if the mounting bracket will work to orient this horizontally either - The mythos 3 is designed to be hung or placed horizontally, so I would recommend getting that if they still have them around.  Sound wise, not sure if there is really a ton of difference - the specs might be ever so slightly different though

Is the $249.99 price for 1 (one) OR 2 (two) speakers?

It comes with one speaker, hence "Single" in the title. Mythos "Two" is the model, like Mythos "Three" that is the center channel that goes with this speaker.
