Does this device show up as a camera/webcam in other programs, or can you only capture using the included software?

I asked this question, and ended up finding out the answer elsewhere and eventually buying it myself.

Yes, this device is able to be seen by other programs as a video input/camera source, once the drivers/software is installed. It's considered a legacy video driver and can't be seen by some programs, such as Skype or Facetime, but video editing, streaming, capture programs, such as Wirecast and CamTwist, are able to used the VC500MAC as another video source. It's important to note, however, that this device is actually three separate inputs: Composite Video, S-Video, and Audio, so when setting up any sort of stream or recording session, that you remember to select the correct Video input and mix it with the Audio input.

I am a Fraud Investigator and I use Dazzle now to capture analog video for my Windows computer because we must have the TIME and Date on all our videos. My question is does this system import the Time and Date on the video?  This is very important to me as it is the only reason I need it. Thank you.

I have very limited use of this.. mostly to convert old vcr tapes to digital.   short answer... I don't know.  Sorry
