Will this tripod hold a small sized projector with stability? The projector is between 5 and 10 pounds.

Hi,

While this is an awesome tripod for most cameras up to medium format, like Hasselblad or Rolleiflex, I would hesitate to mount a projector on it. To do so would require removing the ball head and making a small tray with a 3/8 female thread. Even then if the projector has significant vibration due to cycling it might prove less than satisfactory. It may be worth a try but I'd look at a larger tripod.

The quick-release plate has rubber on it, not cork.

Are these standardized so that they will work with any telescope, or no?  I have a Konuspot - 80 that I need a tripod for, but not sure if this would be compatible.

It depends on the weight of the telescope. If it is large and heavy I would go with a larger tripod with a pivot handle. These tripods are designed for small lightweight camcorders.
