Pros: This is a great ebook reader for the price. Really great features to compete with the other readers - Cheaper than competition ($199 at Newegg) - Display is not eInk so page turning is smooth - Buttons are laid out well - mp3 capability for audio books - can display pictures in several formats - supported with firmware upgrades - long battery life - zoom features

Cons: - Smaller screen than competitors (1" smaller) but big enough for normal ebook reading. I use it for reading technical pdf files so I have to read them in landscape mode so it's not the best for these type of files but adequate. - Currently only supports txt, pdf, fb2 for ebooks. Supposedly will support .lit, .epub, html, and mobipocket with the next firmware upgrade in 1Q 2009. - SD card only goes to 2 GB. Currently does not support SDHC for more capacity - No wireless capability hence the lower price - No touchscreen hence the lower price

Overall Review: This is my first dedicated eBook reader. I've been using my computer,laptop, pda and now just the iphone for ebook reading. I've been doing a lot of research on these readers so I did my homework before taking the plunge. The lower cost is what sold me on this. So far I've enjoyed reading with this.

Pros: If you are a Project Gutenberg or a Project Gutenberg Australia fan (as am I) and are looking for a convenient way to plow through its vast library, then this is definitely a device to look at. I've had mine for three months now, and am completely in love with it. I can stand up on the subway, hold the rail with one hand and the JetBook with the other, and easily read a long novel that would have been completely unwieldy if printed on paper. I have no problem using the sidebar to turn pages with one hand, and the I find the LCD display actually preferable to the newer e-Ink that is used by the Kindle and the Sony reader.

Cons: It's still a bit pricey--even with the Newegg discount. Also, to reiterate what some of the other reviewers have pointed out: if you're looking for an ebook reader in order to read the latest titles and the current bestsellers, this is NOT the device for you; you'd be better off with a Kindle, a Sony Reader, or even an iPhone.

Overall Review: In txt files, there are only two fonts available: Verdana and Arial. However, you can read books in any font you like, as long as you first convert the file to pdf. (I've been doing all of my reading in Garamond font, for example.) When you open the text file, convert it to the font you want, change the font size (I use 18 point, but it's up to you) go to Page Setup and choose 6in by 7.5in (no margins), and then save it as a pdf file. Voila! Your JetBook will easily be able to read this file. (You might want to choose "Full Screen" as your viewing option, which will make the display more aesthetically pleasing.)

Pros: Got it for my wife and she loves it. Got it on sale.

Cons: It does have problems with the PDF format. It overlaps words. I wrote tech support on the problem. I don't know if it's the PDF's fault or the E-book. For now I just had to convert all the PDF books to TXT format and it is readable.

Overall Review: Nice offering compared to the Sony which cost another $100

Pros: The manufacturer website boasts faster load times and longer battery life than the competitors, so I purchased this to save a few bucks.

Cons: It took me a day to learn the reader has to be turned "on" to transfer data. If you don't own a SD reader, purchase one with your 2gb SD, usb transfer rates are slow. Images slow down the page load time to 15 seconds, so good software is required to slim and convert the documents to pdf. Also, there's no support for the latest ebooks w/ copy protection or .chm file formats.

Pros: Great display, SD card slot, Nice controls

Cons: firmware upgrade required.

Overall Review: This is a great little device that is great for my needs. The only downside was that I had to upgrade the firmware when I recieved the unit, but that took about five minutes. This is great for people who like gutenburg, and feedbooks. The display is, in my opinion, superior to e-ink displays, there is no flashing when I turn the page, and the turns are instant in the right lighting conditions on could almost confuse the LCD for actual paper. One thing that can't be beat was the price. As for the lack of DRM support its not really a problem as some websites do offer non-drmed books for purchase. I'm very pleased with this product.

Pros: I got one for Christmas instead of a Sony Reader and was pleasantly suprised. It's a nice size with a nice screen. Supposedly epub and mobipocket support are on the way.

Cons: It's only really good at reading txt files...

Overall Review: I had no problem converting all my books to txt using freeware.

Pros: You can take it off of me but you will have to prise it from my cold dead hands! Brilliant little device.

Cons: Updating firmware can be a challenge sometimes.

Overall Review: My initial review was 4 eggs some 15 months ago, with a years use, including a spell in hospital, I can safely say I can't do without this little thing. In terms of price and reliability it is the best.

Pros: First, it's a fast loading device. Light, easy to understand, easy to use, very portable, jacket pocket or small carrying bag and there you go. Support for e-book reader format is good. Best e-reader for the price. Quality of sound for audio book depend on the qualtiy of the MP3, but it's more than honest. Remember that an e-reader not a stereophonic hifi, so we don't need 5.1.

Cons: Well no Wifi... The screen could had been a little bit bigger, but hey it still great. The support for PDF format is so so. The transfert from computer to e-reader is slow. More than 20 minutes for the transfering of audio book. Support for audio book could be better in format, no OGG or FLAC ect.

Overall Review: For the price the Ectaco JetBook is more than just a bargain. It's a great bargain. I've compare the specs with other device and it stand out the competition very well. Having better transfert for audio book will probably the next step to make that E-Reader not just a great buy but a super buy
