Question 2

1.  Is this camera completely wireless (works with batteries) or do you need electric outlet?

2.  Can you buy any device such as DVR to record video?

3.  What's the wireless range for connectivity?  How many feet indoor/outdoor does it cover?

1. No, it does not work with batteries. you will need a electric outlet to provide it power. 
2. No you cant record video on other DVR. You could record it in the SD card. Or your own computer with Edimax surveillance software. 
3. the range depends on the wireless environment.  the range should be about 50 ft. If your smartphone can detect wireless and has enough bandwidth for watching youtube at the location you want to place camera, then it should be no problem for camera connecting to the internet.

Question 3

Does this camera support the UPnP protocol for camera discovery on a LAN?  (My Honeywell home security system says it needs this protocol to be found, and I didn't see it listed.)

I believe this only works if you have a D-Link UPNP router. It may work with any UPNP router, but I read somewhere it has to be D-Link. I doubt that though.
