Question 1

Would this work with MS flight sim X to be able to display views around the plane in real time?  What else would I need, other than monitors, to make it work? Would you recommend a USB network adapter? (or whatever it was called)

I dont know about flight simulator.. nor games. But it worls with real-time data, I use it with stocks charts. I own two of this pluged on my ultrabook (3 monitors total) and works great. Windows7, diferent monitors (samsung TA550, Samsung Sa350, LG). I use DisplayLink drivers, as recommended by other users (see reviews), i do not use encore drivers. Good luck with your flights!

Is this product compatible with Windows XP? Will it enable me to do split screen with a projector?

I don't know if it work with a projector but I am using it with XP and an external monitor to split screen.

Question 3

This product is not compatible with Windows 8.1 or Ubuntu 13.04. Any one know of a work-around?

Mine works seamlessly using windows 8. I don't think I have downloaded the windows 8.1 update. If you uninstall 8.1 I wouldn't think you'd have a problem.
