ALL ENERGY BRAND COMPONENTS WERE DEVELOPED WITH THESE SONIC PRINCIPLES IN MIND:
- Flat On-Axis Frequency Response with Wide Bandwidth
Speakers should reproduce the entire audio range in a uniform manner. By ensuring that no one frequency dominates any other, Energy speakers ensures that every note is the way it was intended to be—and the sound is as natural as possible. - Wide and Constant Dispersion
Sound at all frequencies radiating from the speaker should be in an even pattern, in all directions throughout the room. - Low Distortion and Resonance
No speaker system is totally distortion- or resonance-free, but Energy speakers have achieved a significantly lower distortion level—a clearly audible improvement.

Pros: - Very good imaging. Tonal (instrument) separation is accurate. - Heavy - Ability to be bi-amped - Bright sound, but no ear-piercing hiss - Solid vocal reproductions without muddling the midrange - Decent staging without being overly directional - Looks good with or without the speaker grill - Klipsch is the parent company - Less expensive here at NewEgg than the Energy CF50's in the Best Buy Magnolia store where I did actual testing between the Energy CF50's and the Martin Logan Motion 12's.
Cons: - Difficult to move. Nowhere to grab except by the bass port and cradling the back of the speaker. - Might have stability problems if placed on soft/plush carpet due to the small feet - Packaging could be better. Speakers are not entirely enclosed in (styro)foam. UPS punctured a box, just barely missed speaker cabinet. This wouldn't have been as much a concern if speaker was entirely encased in packing material. - Not much bass, but that's expected in this type of speaker size. Most people now have a discreet subwoofer, so this is really a moot point. If you simply need two speakers for full-range reproduction, then buy a true loudspeaker that has a 10" or larger woofer built into the cabinet.
Overall Review: IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT BUYING SPEAKERS, YOU REALLY HAVE TO HEAR THEM FIRST. EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT PREFERENCES AND DISTINCTIONS TO 'WHAT' THEY HEAR. - Compared to the Martin Logan Motion 12's that NE had on sale for $299. As I read in other forums, the ML Motion 12's focused on midrange and lacked brightness. 100% true when I heard them myself. The ML's sounded flat and boring. The Energy CF50's were staged right next to them and sounded WAY better in terms of brightness and imaging. - The CF70's sound even better due to a true 3-way crossover design whereas the CF50's are 2.5. The 70's also have slightly larger drivers which enhances bass output a wee bit more, but not much (see the CONS section) - Performed non-stop 100 hours of "break in" @ 25%-33% power in soundproofed basement. Bass response picked up a little bit as expected. - Use caution when removing speakers from shipping box. There's no easy place to grab and you might accidentally grab a speaker cone.
