does this product have a clamp that allows you to clamp to desktops?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  The mount will clamp to desk/table surfaces from 0.16 inches to 2.6 inches depending on how you configure the clamp (that you can't see in the newegg pictures).

Question 2

My desk doesn't have a mounthing bracket, is it necessary to drill to be able to instal the Ergotron LX Dual Sttacking Arm?

Accepted Answer

No.  It has an edge mounting bracket, but you will need 6-8 inches of clearance from the edge on both the top and bottom of the desk.

However, it will be more stable if you use the through-bolt mount.  It really only requires a hole the size of the bolt (slightly larger) and needs approximately the same clearance as the edge mount.

Also note that this mount can not be used with a glass top on your desk.

It is the best quality, most versatile mount that I have found.

Question 3

Would I be able to buy another arm and stack it to make it a three monitor holding system or is there a reason that wouldn't work?

There is enough space on the center pole for another two  arms.  The support appears strong enough, properly installed it does not move and is very heavy and solid.  A quick check indicated that while the fit would be tight you could probably double stack or even space three monitors across.  However I cannot speak from experience as we only have two arms attached to center pole.

We bought one for an employee last year and it worked so well we purchased another in November for a different employee and we have had no complaints about the quality the looks or the strength of the arms.  Install is easy, which is good, as the instructions for the install can seem daunting.

Question 4

Has anybody out there used this to mount 27" inch monitors?

I have. Currently I'm using a 27" with a 24" and have plenty of room. If I wanted a second 27" it wouldn't be a problem.

The only issue is that depending on your monitor it might be a bit heavy for the arm. My monitor is the ASUS PG279Q and weighs ~15lbs with the stand. Not sure what it weighs as currently used (without the stand).

Question 5

I am finding out that most monitor stands don't raise the display far enough above the desk.  I'm 5'8" and therefore would want the center of the square VESA bracket to be 21" from the desk (top of the mount's clamp). This way I would be forced into sitting up straight! and have the monitor at eye level.  Isn't that one of the main reasons why people buy these??!! What is the max distance from the CENTER of the VESA square to the Top of the clamp? Thank you so much and please spread the word...

I am not sure I understand the issue but here goes.

The clamp will lower the monitor to desk level and can raise the monitor to a height of 21 1/2 inches.  That is the center of the monitor is 21 and 1/2 inches above the desk top.  The size of the monitor will determine how far from the desk the bottom of the monitor will be from the desk.  ie our 23" monitors are 13" above the desk surface.

I can say that after I bought one for one of our staff they found it to be so good that I bought two more for another two desks.  The staff has had no complaints.  The stands hold the monitors where you want them  are extremely sturdy and are plenty wide enough to hold two 24' monitors

Question 6

I'm interested in a side by side ergotron. How far does it extend from the mounting bracket? Is that 24"? and how high can I extend the monitors off my desk? I believe my monitors are 22"
