Would a 650watt Power Supply work fine with this?

Yes I think it should. I have a 1300 watt though but I have 3 in serial (SLI). 1300/3=433 W 650W>433W ergo I would say yes if you only have one.

Don't hold me to that though. It's been awhile since I put it in and I forget these things once they are done. I put them in w an 1100 W (all 3) and it blew the PSU, so be careful.

Question 2

Will this be worthy an upgrade from two HD 5850 cards configured in Crossfire mode?

Easily. I went from GTX 460. Even in SLI, it was okay. A single card however grants you more raw output for more games. Not all games are able to utilize SLI/Crossfire to its full potential. I went from Medium BF4 settings at 50-60 FPS to everything maxed out at 110+ fps. Overclocking is very easy with PrecisionX. Mine is 200Mhz more currently and definitely an increase of about 6-15% depending on game. I believe it's a worthy upgrade in my opinion.

Will this card work with a Crossfire V Formula motherboard. If not anyone have recommendations?

It will work, but just know that it will not work in a Crossfire configuration. As long as the mobo has at least a single PCI-Express 2.0 slot, you'll be fine.

Will this card work with a SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 (Socket 942)?

Yes, most definitely. The Sabertooth is a Socket AM3+ which refers to the cpu. The Mobo has the PCI-e etc necessary for several cards. But yes, the EVGA Superclocked GTX 970 will fit this board as it will most newish/er boards. Generally speaking most cards will fit most of the new boards. The only difficulties your can run into are primarily with your case (length of card) and in crossfire or sli spacing. But yes, good to go!

Question 5

Will this card drive two 4K monitors? I see that this card can drive 4 monitors and has a max resolution of 4096 x 2160. I assume that the max resolution is per monitor not total combined resolution?

I am unsure about whether or not it can run on 2 4k monitors.
As far as graphical power, I feel confident that it can manage a 4k monitor. It may not be able to run newer games on 4k on ultra though.
4k is still expensive and in the next 2 years I can imagine a huge increase GPU strength.
If you have enough money to afford 2x 4k monitors, I would say wait, save up, and do research about what 4k monitors you want and what video card would be good at that point in time.
That being said, this video card is a beast. Right now it's the best bang for your buck that's under 400.

Does it come with the SLI connector?

I could swear I remember seeing one when I opened mine, but looking back through my parts it does not appear that I have an SLI connector, so I'm going to have to answer: No it does not come with one.

Question 7

Has anyone played Elite: Dangerous or Star Citizen with this card?  I am wondering if it runs the 4K textures in Star Citizen with ease.  For Elite: Dangerous, I am wondering if it has no problem running the game.

This is a great card. I use mine with autocad and proteus 8. I'm an engineer and need the resolution for large circuit development.
The game I do play is quake 4 which is older than dirt by todays standards, @ 1600X1200 which does not tax this card at all. if you use a 4k capable monitor you need display port cable 1.2 and 60HZ refresh. not familiar with the games you mentioned. This card won't disappoint.

I currently use an R9 270 card. Will this be a decent improvement or should I be looking at something else?

I would say it would be a decent upgrade. I would advise you do some research on the specs for each card. with the information I have found, the 970 is an average of about 50% improvement over the R9 270x. I would guess that the difference would be higher for the non X version of the 270. Keep in mind I did not spend too much time looking for information. Also, these numbers are synthetic benchmarks. I cannot post a link to the site, but you can Google R9 270 vs. GTX 970. Once you look at the numbers, decide for yourself if the price is worth it, depending on your budget.

How well can this card overclock?

That's mainly based on luck as it is with processors. Some cards will overclock better than others, and some wont overclock much if it all. Whatever you buy you should always stress test it at stock speeds though. I had to RMA a defective GTX 970 that would blackscreen under load after about 30 minutes to an hour of gameplay in some very few and specific games. Always stress test your cards with Heaven 4.0 on ultra @ 1080p. If they can run that for at least an hour straight with no problems, then there's likely nothing at all wrong with them since Heaven constantly pushes the card to it's limit.

What is the minimum PSU requirerments? the case im considering in my build is a mATX style and comes with a 400W 80+ Bronze. I think it should work for now (do plan to upgrade later but im at the edge of my budget, so just not yet if i don't have to).
