You would expect one of the premiere video adapter manufacturers to make a great USB-to-VGA adapter, and with eVGA you would be right. The UV Plus has the ability to clone the main screen or extend the view in all directions. With the ability to add a total of 8 UV Pluses to your system you can have a screen area 9 times the size of your main monitor.
The UV Plus supports resolutions from 640x480 to 1680x1050/1600x1200 all with 32-bit color depth delivering the exceptional image quality you'd expect. The kit comes with everything you'll need including a retractable USB cable, a DVI-to-VGA adapter and a carry pouch to take it on the road with you.
Exceptional Multi-display SolutionWith the eVGA UV Plus+ (model 100-U2-UV16-A1), add a second monitor to your USB-compatible desktop or notebook for maximum onscreen real estate. UP to 6 UV Plus+ devices can be used at the same time and you can mirror or extend your desktop up, down, left or right for different applications.
DVI/VGA Display SupportWith the included DVI-to-VGA adapter, the eVGA UV Plus+ (model 100-U2-UV16-A1) supports both DVI and VGA display devices such as CRT, LCD, and projectors.
Portable DesignThe compact, sleek eVGA UV Plus+ (model 100-U2-UV16-A1) is fully powered via USB without the need for a power cord or a bulky power adapter for the ultimate portability.
Pros: Adds the monitor as a 3rd monitor to the display properties where you'd normally have 2. Plays video well but not great. You can mirror and even use as a stand alone additional monitor at the click of the mouse. Max resolution isn't near caught up to the monitors on the market currently. Easy to install and use! Get the most up to date drivers before you install. The ones that come with it are horrible. Plug and play is always a plus! Loads up just fine hooked up to a usb docking station and loads once the laptop is logged in. Until then it runs as a mirror. Got this for my work laptop. I needed more desktop realestate so I researched and found this. I'm now able to use the laptop minitor and a second monitor hooked up to the docking station in addition to this.
Cons: The USB cable that comes with it is junk! It's annoying and not very well made. Very cheap and seems to be more of a gimmic then anything else. I'd recommend getting your own usb cord to replace this one. the dvi to vga adapter is annoying. They went through great effort to make this device look nice and then package it with pathetic extras. The adaptor is gray while the device is black. Make them the same color and that would at least look better. The adaptor port is also on the side, not the back, so it gets in the way if you are trying to set this up to be able to see the blue led light it has. Both the port and the power should have been setup on the back and out of sight but are instead on opposite sides which makes it a tad hard to tuck away. this thing gets HOT if you aren't careful. I'd recommend giving it as much surface space to air as possible and also only that monitor for things that aren't constantly moving as this will increase the heat.
Overall Review: The device is the best out there and does a very good job. I've seen pictures with people using up to 4 of these. The extras it comes with are very cheap and sub-par for such an awesome product. If the company was smart they'd ditch the stupid carrying bag, the cheaply made retractable cord and the dvi to vga adaptor for something better. Get rid of the bag all together since this isn't a pair of oakley's and even if we wanted to show it off scratch free then why the bulky different colored adaptor and the placement of the port? This bag is useless and I'd rather the unit be cheaper without it. Include a decent usb cable since we all know how to deal with cords by now. Include a dvi to vga adaptor that is the same color as the unit, maybe something like apple's adaptor. And finally either remove the led light, as this might increase the heat, or put the dvi port and power in the back so that at least the light can be appreciated else what purpose does it serve?
