NVIDIA's ninth generation series of graphics cards brings cutting edge technology and advanced capabilities together for best-in-class performance. The 9800GTX is a balanced solution for all your graphic needs. It’s Microsoft Vista ready and equipped with a PCI-Express 2.0 interface for the most up-to-date system. The 9800 supports Quad SLI which more than doubles your performance by running up to four graphics cards for insane flow rates.
The card's core clock runs at 675MHz relieving your CPU of pixel crunching duty. Data surges through the 9800's 128 stream processors which are fed by 512MB of 256-bit 2200MHz GDDR3 memory. Support for DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0, OpenGL 2.0 and NVIDIA's PureVideoHD render even the most intense environmental effects, heavy shading, multiple light sources, or HD DVD video with brilliant clarity.
Twin dual-linked DVI and 400 MHz RAMDAC lets you display 2560 x 1600 resolution video and graphics on even the largest monitors, or output to other video displays via the S-Video and HDTV connectors for maximum flexibility. The 9800 delivers fluid frame rates and HD video with solid performance at a price that'll still leave money in your pocket.
NVIDIA Unified Architecture with GigaThread Technology The fully-unified shader core dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics and pixel shading operations, delivering incredibly true-to-life 3D graphics. In addition, the massively multi-threaded architecture supports thousands of independent, simultaneous threads, providing extreme processing efficiency in advanced, next generation shader programs.
NVIDIA HybridPower Technology Designed for PC enthusiasts and hard-core gamers, HybridPower Technology switches graphics processing from the GeForce 9800 GTX graphics card to your motherboard GeForce GPU when running less graphics-intensive applications for reduced energy consumption, quieter operation, and less heat generation.
PCI Express 2.0 Interface The PCI Express 2.0 interface delivers an ultra-high data rate of up to 16GB/s, and is backward compatible with PCI Express x16 (PCI-E 1.0), so you can upgrade the graphics of your existing system with the EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR.
NVIDIA SLI Technology With SLI, the GeForce 9800 GTX GPU offers increased performance up to 2X in a dual SLI configuration and up to 2.8X in 3-way SLI mode for no-compromise gaming performance.
NVIDIA PureVideo HD Technology The combination of high-definition video decoding acceleration and post-processing delivers unprecedented picture clarity, smooth video, accurate color and precise image scaling for all video content, especially movies.
Essential Vista NVIDIA GeForce 9 Series GPUs are essential for accelerating your Windows Vista experience by offering an enriched 3D user interface, increased productivity, vibrant photos, smooth, high-definition videos, and ultra-realistic games.
Pros:
haven't gotten yet.
hopefully will be a upgrade from my geForce 8600 OC
has pretty fast ram. hopefully will be a plus.
Cons: wont take me out to dinner first
Overall Review:
will be running on as any screens as possible.
lets hope for the best.
Pros: This card ran almost 24/7 for me for over 5 years. I can say it continued to play games until I decided I needed to upgrade.
Cons: Very loud, lots of crashes and screen tearing (few times a day in an 8 hour day of gaming).
Overall Review:
Was nice to get a solid card.
You can't buy this card here anymore, but hey, a reviews a review!
Pros: This card was great for the time. Not sure why I'm reviewing it almost five years later but why not! Was a beastly thing, that looked sweet and performed as advertised.
Cons: Mine happened to die a few days after my warranty expired. They were nice enough to still send me a replacement. The replacement card was a newer model and had 1GB of RAM so that was nice. I'm not downgrading it because everything can fail. And I had it hooked up to two monitors so I'm sure it just overheated. Was happy with this card and am happy with the replacement.
Pros: sexy card for a bargain price. Still using this card 3 years later. Still performing most games fairly well on mid to low settings after all this time. its been a sexy beast
Cons: was only 512MB RAM
Pros: this card is still going strong after 4 years, am about to buy a new system and evga is deffinetly what im buying, a 760 mind you
Cons: nuthin'
Pros:
I have owned this card for 4+ years. This card is like the energizer bunny. It just keeps going and going and going and going...
The card was easy to install. My mobo recognized it right away.
I never needed to return the card or access the EVGA warranty. Although I did purchase this from EVGA because they had the best and longest warranty.
The card has run everything that I have thrown at it over the years from the Quake and Doom series to the most current FPS like Battlefield 3.
Currently running Guild Wars 2, SWTOR, RIFT, and Battlefield 3 on a regular basis. Of course not on the highest settings. I run most of these games on mid to high level settings.
I rarely have problems with frames per second. I have never needed to overclock this card; however, I may do a little overclocking to the card since it's on its way out.
I do run Adobe CS4 on my computer with 4GB of RAM on Windows 32bit. The only slow down I experience is when I am opening a large photo or image in Photoshop. The load times seem a little bit long, but I chalk this up to the fact that I'm running on a 32bit platform with only 4GB of RAM and a 2.66 standard quad core processor with no overclocking.
Cons:
Few cons:
1. Fan is loud under load (sounds like a jet engine whirl)
2. Takes up 2 slots
3. Long PCB (not recommended for Micro or Mini ATX cases)
Overall Review:
The cons are VERY easily forgotten considering how well this card has performed over the years.
With the upcoming release of Battlefield 4 and Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn on the horizon I am planning on phasing this card out and replacing it with an EVGA 02G-P4-2663-KR GeForce GTX 660 FTW Signature 2 2GB. I hope this replacement card can live up to its predecessor and give me many years of reliable usage.
Thank you EVGA for producing a great product and providing great warranty options.
Thank you Newegg.com for the fast shipment and great pricing.
Pros: Good performance
Cons: Very noisy when playing demanding games
Overall Review: I'd suggest buying good speakers or headphones to cover that annoying noise.

Pros: did buy this card in 2009 and it is still going , no problems what so ever . EVGA should manufacture cards like this one that are problem free for the layman . A work horse .
Cons: none
