EVGA Warranty Policy really needs to lighten up! 11/7/2012 1:03:58 PM

Pros: Fast and drivers work

Cons: Card blew out after ~10 months of light use - Playing Diablo 3, CS Source/GO, some BF3 a couple hours a week at most... I tried to file for an RMA but do not have my original invoice. They recently changed their warranty policy to 3 years w/o warranty but ONLY if it was manufactured after July 10, 2011.... I didn't even receive the card until December 27, 2011 but they won't warrant it - I even tried sending a timestamped picture of the box in shrink wrap taken on December 30, 2011. Oh well - I'd recommend buying another brand because who knows how long the cards have been sitting on the shelf.

Pros: I Intend to SLI this one with another but for sake of impatience I wanted to start playing with my new build and one is so far perfect for my current needs. (KOTR), (D3) Cant wait to see what two will do. Waiting for second to go on sale.

Cons: I bought this over two months ago and counting and STILL waiting on my$30.00 rebate.

Overall Review: This thing is pretty sizeable. This was my first build and I did top of the line everything for the most part, including Full tower size (Phantom NZXT). It got a little tight on room near motherboard with one of these once everything was installed so maybe people doing smaller size cases should check dimensions if doing a SLI

top rated for a reason 5/9/2012 5:58:47 PM

Pros: Easy to install & crazy fast: chews through F@H work units like nothing I've ever owned.

Cons: Runs hot and is pretty big, but I knew that before I got it.

Overall Review: I should have picked this up a year ago.

Explosive speed at a good price 5/4/2012 6:58:52 AM

Pros: Here's a simplistic review. This card can push incredible resolutions with no hicups, and can also run almost every game out there on ultimate graphics. Make sure to have a decently air cooled case, or a liquid cooling kit with a GPU cooler. This card tends to run on the hot side sometimes. ALSO, THIS CARD IS A BEAST! I'm using the Thermaltake MK-I Chaser full tower thankfully, so I don't worry about heat or space, but even most mid towers have trouble with the card being so massive!

... Didn't really consider any of that a con in my case. Can be for some people though.

Cons: For some, size and temperature.

Overall Review: I will definitely be getting another one in the future.

Wonderful Graphics Card Solution 5/3/2012 4:47:58 PM

Pros: These cards are fantastic. I have two in SLI and they're unstoppable. One by itself is enough to run any game out there (maybe not with the all of best graphics settings enabled) and two destroys any game. Cooling solution is more than adequate and surprisingly relatively quiet! Metro 2033, BF3, Crysis 1 & 2 all run at a nearly consistent 60 FPS with maximum settings and all the MSAA and filtering you want... Once in a while it may stutter for a few frames (read: literally a few) at a demanding scene, but it's very few and far between. 3 GB of graphics RAM is fantastic, especially if you're into using high-res texture packs in games (I haven't been, but may give it a try).

System Specs for those that are curious:
Asus X79 Sabertooth
8 GB Mushkin DDR2133
3820 Sandy Bridge-E @ 4.3 GHz
Crucial M4 128 GB SSD
2x eVGA 580 GTX's
Corsair HX850W PSU (it's plenty, even for two 580 GTX's - PSU calculators are notoriously inaccurate and if you study up on EE you can figure it out yoursel

Cons: A few things to mention here, but even with all of them combined, it still isn't enough for me to dock an egg. EVGA's packaging leaves a little bit to be desired in the presentation department (compared with the MSI 580 GTX's I had before these, see other thoughts), but that's largely unimportant. NVIDIA's 6 series is about to expand significantly, so these will no longer be the best high-end bang for your buck NVIDIA card (not really a con, just worth mentioning). ATi still probably gives you the most bang for your buck in graphics cards. Card is very physically long (about 10.6"m, IIRC) and could be an issue for some Mid ATX Tower case users... In my P183, I had to reconfigure some HDD's around to not use the top bay because the drive tray holders would get in the way of the end of the card. Lucky escape, for me, and I don't have that many drives. But could be an issue for some.

Overall Review: I actually owned 2 MSI 580 GTX's prior to these with the Twin Frozr II cooling solution. The product has since been deactivated on Newegg (at the time of writing it still is) but for anyone who wants to use non-reference cooling in SLI, think again. To run these or any high-end card that produces so much heat, you have to get a cooler that is good at driving hot air OUT of the case - which the reference coolers do but most non-reference coolers do not. By themselves, they are sometimes better because they tend to be quieter and keep cooler (I had an MSI 8800 GT with the same type cooler and it worked beautifully), but when you get that much heat concentrated in one area, it's game over. Case temperatures dropped nearly 15 C (!), MB temperature dropped 20 C, CPU temperature dropped some... I could go on. Anyway, just as a heads up, for those that haven't dealt with SLI heat... Keep this in mind; it'll save you a headache. Oh, and MSI support was unhelpful, but Newegg was wonderful!

6 months and still full steam 5/3/2012 6:23:08 AM

Pros: Very smooth and quiet. I can run any game on max settings and still outrun the my 60Hz refresh rate. Typically im around 75fps in game unless there is a lot of intensive stuff going on... then I might drop to the 50's.
This thing is a beast!

Cons: Well you see, what had happened was... (none)
