Do you expect this card to eventually sag or bend without the backplate or is it light enough?

It doesn't have as much cooler to it as the more high end ones like the ROG and AORUS ones do so don't expect as much of that kind of stuff.

Is there a back plate to this? They don't show in the pictures.

No. The XC3 Gaming and the XC3 Ultra have a backplate, as well as all FTW3 variants.

I see that this card sticks out a little bit past the mounting bracket on the front. Is there room enough for another expansion card to be placed in the slot directly in front of this card?

The fan shroud protrudes just slightly past the 2 slot PCI bracket so you can't really put an expansion card in the slot immediately under it. Anything you put directly under the card would block airflow to the fans so I'd give it at least a slot or two of space anyway.
