The Fluke Networks TS90 cable fault finder with built-in tone generator is used on cable and wire to locate faults, measure cable length and isolate individual wire pairs. From just ONE END of any two or more conductor cable you can measure up to 2,500 feet (762 meters). Easily find the distance to opens or shorts on electrical wire, telephone wire, security wire and coax. Intermittent faults are easier to find because the unit constantly measures while "On". Voltage detection in the unit will immediately sound an alarm if you accidentally clip onto an energized pair, up to 250VAC.
Based on Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) measurement technology, this model lists results as digital reading rather than a waveform, so it's perfect for technicians unfamiliar with Time Domain Reflectometery (TDR). Its digital readout is also perfect for inventory management of cable stock in trucks and warehouses, since it can measure the length of cable on a spool.
Exclusive SmartTone technology gives you five distinct tones to use for exact wire and pair identification, even in proximity to current-bearing cable. When touching the wires together and momentarily shorting the far end of a cable pair, the SmartTone technology will change the cadence of the tone generated. This tone change you hear through a probe positively verifies the correct wire pair.
The TS90 has a four-digit LED display for viewing readings, which turns off automatically after five minutes of inactivity when not connected to a cable and after one hour if connected to a cable. Plus, this model is made of high-strength ABS plastic for durability and impact resistance, and has an internal coating to protect internal components against moisture, thus making it reliable on-the-field solution for network and telecom technicians and installers to troubleshoot, maintain and optimize performance of voice, data, and video cabling.
