I just realized I'm still using this thing! 9/29/2015 4:49:25 PM

Pros: I bought this PS in 2006... 2006 people! It still runs my aging primary Rig which is an unlocked and overclocked i7-940 @ 3.6 GHZ,
9G of ram in tripple channel, a GTX 670, a few SDDs in Raid 0 (that I need to replace) and a cd rom and several fans. Nothing exciting by today's standards, but it's still running. That's saying something, this PSU is OLD by any computer standard.

Cons: It doesn't do laundry

My Last FSP power supply 3/12/2014 10:13:46 PM

Pros: It lasted more than a year

Cons: I have been seeing a LOT of FSP power supplies bad lately in both my own and client machines.

My local stores stopped selling them. Maybe the failure rate was too high.

I have 4 bad FSP power supplies in my hands right now. 4 of the last 4 bad power supplies I have replaced have been FSP units.

Overall Review: This 700 watt unit was VERY lightly loaded. (<200watts). It only powered a dual core CPU in a backup server that idled 99.9% of the time because all it did was hold 11 hard drives used to hold backup data synced to it each night.

I now buy Seasonic, Corsair, PC power & Cooling

I have a PC Power supply that has been running daily since 2006.

I think I paid more for this Junk FSP and I just did for a Gold rated Seasonic 750watt unit which has a much nicer build quality.

...and kablooey 12/4/2011 6:42:14 PM

Pros: Ran very well for the 5yrs I have had it. Enough plugs for many drives and enough for a heavy graphics card.
Nice blue paint job.

Cons: Died pretty catastrophically. Some secondary caps went out but the entire unit died (found this out after replacing the blown caps). Same thing happened to a 600w version of this power supply I had for the wife. It now only works if the load is under 100w, and barely then.

Overall Review: This kind of failure makes you hesitant to buy from the same manufacturer, so probably will not buy another FSP. I do wish though that other manufacturers would have a blue paint job, not just black or silver or black with red.

Could be better 10/8/2011 12:14:46 PM

Pros: - Pretty efficient on energy use
- Works extremely well with my mobo seeing as it uses APS
- Great concept

Cons: Well, I hadn't noticed the amperage output on the PSU and unfortunately it gives off a very low amperage. This is probably the issue people have with it. Most gaming, or high end motherboards require more amperage than this can give, so it will work for a while but will eventually go out on you.

Overall Review: It's pretty weird that this "green" psu would come out around the time where technology is changing, but this instead of changing just altered their power regulation and output and called it "green".

Early Retirement 4/4/2011 1:09:33 AM

Pros: Worked well when it worked.

Cons: PSU completely failed after 3 years and change
Damaged my hard drive (thanks!)
High price for a product that's unreliable

Overall Review: FSP claims 100,000 MTBF this unit died after 28,536

I'm really disappointed, and it's caused lots of trouble and downtime. That was my last FSP, time to fins a reliable PSU.

Died after 3 years 2/22/2011 12:34:49 AM

Pros: Worked well before it died.

Cons: Power supply died after 3 years of moderate use. For $140, I would have expected a higher quality power supply.

Bad after less than 5 years 2/6/2011 8:46:23 PM

Pros: Bought it from Newegg in 10/2006, went bad around 07/01/2010, so it worked for almost 5 years.

Cons: It should have last at least 7 years for what I paid for it. I didn't even leave it on 24/7.

Overall Review: Will never buy another expensive power supply again. My Antec at 500W is 7 years old, $100 less, and still running strong according to my PS tester.

Life expectency 1/6/2009 9:16:04 PM

Pros: Has a really clean pant job. Cables are nice and long and has every cable you will ever need

Cons: Bought this power supply approx 3 years ago. Today I was sitting at my desk when I heard a loud POP! The power went out on my computer.
