Does this come with the scanning mat in the pictures?

other notes: I use this a lot--I must have scanned many dozens of books by now--but the OCR results aren't always wonderful (presumably because the scan itself is imperfect), scan results can vary a great deal, and it took some getting used to (and conversations with tech support) before I was able to get the ongoing scanning to work well without producing scans that needed to be cropped.  All that said, I don't regret the purchase--anything else to serve my purposes (I read and mark up numerous texts that I scan from library copies) would have been out-of-sight expensive.

How large of a page will this scan?  Will it scan ledger size paper as one page?

It will scan two letter sized papers side by side as one page or two, so it will do ledger size as one page. I have scanned contracts that were extra long as one page.

Is this scanner compatible with Mac? Thanks.

Yes, it works with Mac.  I use this scanner frequently on my MacBook Pro.  Here is what you need to know.

1) You will have to download the Mac Software off the Fujitsu website, which is no problem.

2) The one negative is that it comes with Acrobat for Windows and you get nothing for Mac.  That was an extra expense for me as I now pay 20 bucks/month to have Acrobat for Mac.

3) This scanner is amazing.  I use it to digitize books and once you get used to all the amazing things it can do, you will never regret the purchase

Does this come with Acrobat Standard 11 software which appears to be worth  200 by itself?

I do not remember it being there. 
The first Scan Snap I bought did come with Acrobat. That was a Windows scanner where someone found a beta Mac driver on the Corporate (Japan) web site. I and a number of other Mac using attorneys downloaded it. Later we found an add on that translated many of the Japanese labels into English.
I do not do Windows. I am Mac only.
I already had the then current Adobe Acrobat professional installed on the computer when I purchased the scanner.

I see you are selling the Fujitsu SV600. I'm confused why there are two prices for what appears to be the same item - $584 & $719? Are these different models? do they have different features? Do they both include the pad?

I'm interested in buying one, but won't until I know what I'm buying.

Prices may differ for an item if they are sold by different sellers.

The best way to confirm specs is actually by checking the manufacturer's website (that's where we get them). Click on the Specifications tab on the item page, and look in the Quick Info box on the bottom of the page. Depth of field at different scanning resolutions?

I do not know what kind of answer the customer wants. I can only say that we are delighted with the product. I recommend that he call Fujitsu as this is an expensive piece of equipment. I could not possibly praise their customer support more highly; they are professional, knowledgeable, and willing to bend over every which way to help the customer.--Mike

Does anyone know if this is wireless dongle capable or if there is a bridge that works with it? It will be quite far away from the computer it will be tethered to and trying to figure out a solution. I don't want to buy a 30ft USB cable. Thanks!

If you are referring to the sv600 compared to the sheet feed scanner they are completey different as on is contact and the other non contact...non contact for books, thick papers, cardboard etc...completely different usage....

What is the maximum size (dimensions)  of an item that I can scan?  Can it scan the entire size of a newspaper page   (i.e.  Wall Street Journal, New York Times.. etc) ?

About 11x17, but with a little contrivance, you can make multiple passes (turn the document, then use XNView (freeware) or other software to rotate all passes in the same direction). Use ICE (fantastic freeware from Microsoft) to join the pieces.
