Is this RAM specifically for Intel builds? Or can I use it with an AMD processor and MoBo?

G.Skill RAM works fine with AMD processors.  AMD doesn't make motherboards for the consumer market.

Maybe you may have this G.SKILL Ares RAM in hand and are trying to build a good machine around it?

Please keep in mind though, that manufacturers design machines the othwr way around.

They will make a given mobo with a certain processor in mind.  Then they choose the chipset.  Then the manufacturer chooses which types and speeds of RAM to support.

G.SKILL has a "RAM Configurator" page at gskill dot com slash en slash configurator .  With that tool, you start with the mobo manufacturer, then the chipset, then a list of compatible G.SKILL RAM.

G.SKILL's configurator page may be enough but their list is incomplete, because G.SKILL doesn't have the resources to create a list of every single compatible motherboard/processor combination.

pcpartpicker dot com has a "system build" tool that works rather well.  Starting with RAM, you can find these G.SKILL Ares DIMMs at

If you click "Add" and leave the "Enable Compatibility Filter" box checked, you can add a CPU (8 pages worth, including more than 200 AMD processors to choose from).  Then you can add any number of compatible motherboards.

Or you can add the mobo first and then your CPU.

Somewhere along your journey, I'm confident you'll find what you want for a cool AMD-based system!

Will this fit in a Lenovo Laptop Z710 with 2 memory slots?

Will this ram work with the ASRock Z77 motherboard?

If the mobo says DDR3 it will work; ALL DDR3 RAM will downclock to match the motherboards max as necessary so incompatibility is rare.

Will this work in the Dell Optiplex i3 - i5 Slim Form Factor Desktop Computers?

Looking at Dell's website at the Optiplex Small Form Factor 3020 baseline model as an example, it shows that it uses 2x ddr3 SDRAM and it looks like max speed of 1600mhz. These are at 2133 so without over clocking you wouldn't be able to hit that speed, it would default down to the 1600. (This is all assumption from what I can gather off of Dell's website fyi.) Without knowing specs on the motherboard I cannot say for sure, but loss like they should work. If you can find the make model of your motherboard you can usually find a compatability list through the manufacturer, but I believe Dell likes to keep things proprietary.

After activating Intel XMP in bios, will this work well with a stock i5-2500K on a P8Z68-V Pro mobo or will there need to be some fumbling around with settings?

It should be simple plug and play on your mobo. Asus had a bios option for basic acceleration settings with no fumbling needed.

Will  2 packs  of this memory work in quad channel mode? (rampage 4 extreme motherboard)

Tightest timing? I got 10-12-12-28 for tightest timing @ 1.5V Works fine. Anyone else??
