yes because this Lenovo device supports the 12800.  Your laptop only has 2 slots and I am certain 16 GB is the maximum amount you may install on the T440p.  This is true if you are running a 64 bit operating system.  Verify by following by clicking on this Microsoft resource (it will indicate whether its 32 or 64 on that page).  If you have 32 bit, get rid of it and ake the investment in a 64 bit operating system.

Also ddr3l and ddr3 are different so ddr3l might not work in in ddr3 motherboard so check if is supported and stick with gskill whichever ram you need.

I have a lenovo laptop with two memory slots, only one preesentlt ha 4gb ram.  will this work for me?

It's hard to say without knowing what model you have or even how old it is. You can go to the support section of lenovo's website and type in your laptop's model information and find the specs and manual for it. You would want to look for what is the max memory supported per module. If it says 8gb then it might. These memory modules are low voltage. I'm not sure if they work on older generation processors. For instance, I think for an i7 processor that they didn't support the low voltage until 3rd of 4th generation. But Im not sure if thats true for all processors or even if it really causes an issue. In my particular laptop, to max out the ram that it can have the manufacturer said I had to use low voltage modules and they specifically recommended this set (Asus G75VW laptop). I bought 2 sets of these and run 32 gigs of ram without any problems. My processor is a 3rd gen i7 (i7-3610). Anyway, if you call the manufacturer they might be able to specifically tell you if their laptop has been tested with this particular brand and model of memory. I think most manufacturers have some sort of tested compatibility list even if its not an extensive list of things they tested. Keep in mind that in some cases making a change like this can void any warranty you might have. It voided mine just because on my laptop you have to remove the motherboard to access the other 2 memory slots but I didn't have a special extended warranty anyway.

I have a Satellite C55-A5308 it states to use Toshiba PC3L-12800 DDR3L-1600MHz Memory, 8GB would this memory be good for my laptop ?

The G.SKILL memory that I purchased was 240 Pin for Desktop Computer. Not sure about the 204 pin memory. I am very happy with my G.SKILL Memory. It is fast and have not had any problems or issues since installed a few weeks ago. The last three memory chips that I have purchased within the past 6 months for different computers have been G.SKILL.

What is the difference between DDR3 and DDR3L?  If my laptop has DDR3L do I have to use the same?  Also do they need to match (2x4, 2x8 ect)?

Regarding your first question, the L means low voltage. A standard DDR3 module runs at 1.5 volts while these run at 1.35 volts. Since they use less power they aren't so hard on your laptop's battery or the memory controller. Sometimes a laptop made for standard 1.5 volt modules can only reach their max supported ram if you use the low voltage modules.

For the second question, it probably depends on the system. I suspect a set of standard 1.5 volt modules would work but it would definitely drain your battery life faster than your DDR3L modules. And it may or may not be harder on your memory controller. However, if your device is only capable of delivering 1.35 or even 1.25 volts then it could be that certain 1.5 volt modules might not work at all, especially if you are using multiple modules. I would think if you have a tablet pc or netbook or some sort of ultrabook that it's more likely that it won't like a 1.5 volt memory module if it was designed for DDR3L. I bet if you use 1.5 volt modules that you would definitely void any warranty you have on your device.

For the third question, I'm not sure. I have temporarily used mismatched RAM modules in desktop computers before and never had a problem with it. The main thing you would have to check is that the “max memory supported per slot” of your motherboard can handle the modules you are putting in. If it has 2 slots, supports a max memory of 8gigs, and a max memory per slot of 4 gigs, to max out that would mean you would have to have 2x4gig modules. Ie, you couldn't use a 1x8gig module. But more than likely if you call the manufacturer they are probably going to tell you that you have to use matched modules. Personally I only feel good about it if Im using matched modules but I have no proof that mismatched modules cause problems. Others will tell you it matters but likely won't have a real example of something bad happening from using mismatched modules.

The lower voltage ram is designed for laptops with the third and fourth generation of core processors in them. If your laptop was manufactured in the last 14-18 months you should be fine.

In January 2015, I purchased this memory for my HP 17 inch Touch Laptop. Fast memory and have not had any problems. Purchased a New Dell Laptop today and getting ready to upgrade the 4GB of 8GB of the same type of memory.

F3-1600C11D-16GSL is DDR3L which is a 1.35v memory.  The specs calls for 204 Pin DDR3 which runs at 1.5v to be safe I would find memory that can run at 1.5v.
