Question 1

I'm not sure which class of motherboards this memory is compatible with?  I want to do a new build with 32 GB memory but not sure what motherboard I should be looking at to be used for Photoshop.   My current build is i7-920 processor with12 GB of triple channel memory, and it seems to me that triple channel memory is a thing of the past.  I don't see any new main boards with that config.  I am looking at i7-4470, or similar processor.

I have been using photoshop on a daily basis at work and home for about 10 years, and I can say with confidense that 12 GB of ram should suffice most users. The newer photoshops (cs5 and up) have graphic acceleration (known as "mercury") and tap into your graphics card, this being said, if you are experiencing issues with photoshop performing poorly you may need to turn off "mercury" or conversly look at your performance settings and tweak the amount of RAM to allow PS to use more.  At my work our, concept artist were limited to 4 GB of RAM until just last year, and were working at 4K resolution, so unless you are dabbling in some crazy big files, I can hardly imagine your RAM being the culprit.  But to answer your question; you just need to match the specs on the MB, there should exist a list of acceptable RAM.

Question 2

Would you consider this ram to be low profile? My PCU cooler fan hangs over the first slot of ram, but still has some room under it that I believe will fit a lower-profile stick.

IT Depends due to the Blue Heat Sink adhered on the RAM that make its a tad higher then if you would purchase RAM with out any Heat Sink. I think its lower and than many others memory modules with Heat sinks in the market.  You should try it, and if it doesn't work out then get it replaced with RAM with out Heat Sinks.  You as well can purchase Heat Sinks for Memory when buying the the regular memory which can run short then these.

Question 3

Compatibility on these say LGA 1155. Will these work with an LGA 1150 board?

I don't think it matters.  I'm using these chips on a 2011 motherboards and they work great.    What is more important is whether your specific motherboard has beesn tested with these specific chips. The motherboards website should have a list of what RAM and CPUs have been tested.   See if this Ram has been tested. If not look for other Chips on the list with similar specs (Voltage, CAS Latency and other timings).

I know I don't NEED 32 gigs, but does anyone else feel like maxing out your memory (all dimms filled) makes it faster?

This depends entirely on the application.  Some applications take advantage of dual channel memory, some don't.  You'd be better off getting higher speed RAM instead of extra chips.  Just make sure it's compatible with your motherboard.

The specs say this ram supports XMP on 2nd and 3rd Generation Intel proc's. I want to use this on an LGA2011 mobo with the i7-4930K proc (4th gen). Will XMP be supported?

What is the difference between this memory module and the Ripjaws z-series and the Sniper Gaming series by G.skill? I'll be running this on an ASUS M5A97 (r.2) board with an AMD 6-core CPU

Ares is generally a cheaper model of G.Skill memory.  The difference generally lies in the timing, speed and latency (which are all technically connected) of the modules.  I put Sniper's in my gaming rig because of the way they looked.  You won't notice a difference in any of them unless you're bench marking.
