I bought this memory after using crucials ram check to verify the specifications for my compac presario CQ62 (amd ddr3). After installing the new ram the computer turns on but all I have is a black screen. Re-installing the old ram and the computer works fine. Any ideas as to what might be the problem?

Hello Bradley,

I had no trouble with this set of memory but there could be a few reasons why it didn't post.

(1) Were both modules seated properly? they need to be snug and the arms need to drop into the notches on the side.

(2) Were you  protected against static discharge during the handling of the modules? their is extra risk during the winter due to the lower humidity in certain areas.

(3) One or more of the modules could be bad, try putting only one stick in at a time and try to boot it up.

(4) You may need to check Bios settings and the Bios Version for compatibility.
