what is the difference between G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-8GSL vs the g skill ripjaw? Seems they have same spec & same price. I am upgrading my alienware alpha i3. Thanks.

if the ripjaw you are comparing it to is the G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-1600C11D-8GRSL then the only difference would be that the ripjaw is multi-channel which some laptops do not support but if yours does than it would be the better choice of the 2

No, these are 4GB DDR3-1600 which is a slightly different speed. Your computer will probably also support 1600 speed memory, however check the specifications to be sure.

DDR3L operates at 1.35v for the 4th generation Intel Core processors, the laptop in question has a 3rd generation Intel Core processor operating it's memory at 1.5v.  It will probably work as this memories absolute max range should be as high as 1.5v but it it will degrade the lifetime of the memory so its not recommended.
