I have been researching the best gaming headphones because my old pair gave out on me right before finals week, and I need something reliable that can handle long gaming sessions, voice chat, and everyday use without connection issues, audio lag, or mic problems. After going through reviews and user feedback from trusted sources like TechRadar, Reddit gaming forums, and YouTube reviewers, these two gaming headphones kept coming up as strong contenders:
Razer BlackShark headphones
Hyper X gaming headphones
Now I am stuck trying to decide which one would actually be the better fit for my needs, so I would really appreciate some expert input — especially from anyone who’s used either of these long-term.
For context:
I game 4–5 hours at a time (FPS, story-driven games, and occasional multiplayer) rely on them heavily for competitive play, Discord calls, and streaming
move between home and campus, so comfort, durability, and portability matter a lot
so looking for low audio latency, clear directional sound (footsteps matter!), a good-quality mic, stable connectivity, and solid build qualityIf you have used or have strong opinions on which would be the better long-term option for gaming — I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks in advance — really appreciate the help
I have never had a headset period so I can’t help you decide on one. But what I can say is that you at least want to have the headset connected to your computer with a 2.4ghz dongle, and do wired if you can. The reason that I say that is because I know that Bluetooth has a high latency. So don’t use Bluetooth if latency matters. And for long sessions I would recommend going wired, especially for mic and sounds. And also I think you should get one that allows you to moove the mic around to adjust things that you couldn’t if the mic was ether fixed in place or not nere your mouth at all. Hope this helps!
