Anyone else concerned about recent price increases in the past 2 weeks alone on DD5 RAM, and 12th, 13th, and 14th gen Intel CPUs? It’s still nice to build ‘late model’ PCs when you can gain lots of performance in them, especially if you’re willing to Overclock. I’ve been putting together a new build and it’s as if I’m getting priced out of what I thought I could build with and I already started buying what I could afford. Fortunately, the items I bought are mostly future-proof (case, PSU, CPU cooler, NVMe SSD, cables)
The CPU’s are confusing because they’re older CPU’s. Older tech should go down in price and STAY down in price after they hit certain threshold.
DDR5 RAM is confusing because RAM is plentiful usually. I did hear DDR4 RAM went up in price a few months ago b/c people wanted to upgrade their older systems for a cheap price.
I just read that intel miscalculated the consumer interest in the AI they put in core ultra series and that they plan to value 12, 13, 14 gen more…seriously, how is that our problem? I also dug and found that the die for DDR5 RAM is being valued for the opposite reasons, more AI in servers so even if not used to produce consumer sticks, the die itself is worth more…sheesh. If I could only strike now and grab several i7s and i9s and multiple packs of DDR5 6400 at CL32 or lower
