^^ as said above
decided im staying on am4 but i’ve been upgrading my build that’s “future(-ish) proof”, wanted to know any recommendations on what’s the best gpu for a r7 58x3d cpu that’s not crazy overkill like a 5090 or such!! i currently have a regular rtx4060 lol, so i know there’s def room for improvement
The RTX 4060 is still a solid card (its the 8Gb of v-ram limiting it), so before recommending an upgrade:
- What resolution are you gaming at (1080p, 1440p, or 4K)?
- What refresh rate are you targeting?
- What types of games do you play most (competitive shooters, RPGs, AAA single-player titles, simulators, etc.)?
- Is the PC primarily for gaming, or do you also do content creation, rendering, video editing, or other GPU-heavy work?
If you’re looking for a significant step up from the 4060 while staying on a 5800X3D, I’d be looking at the RX 9070 XT or RTX 5070 Ti depending on your needs and budget. maybe even a 9060 16GB depending on your needs
thx for the insight!
i usually game at whatever is the smoothest but mostly 1080p since i need a monitor upgrade, (not rlly worried abt that one until my refresh rate is too low to get screen tearing, considering im a college student that doesn’t use this pc 24/7…all in due time),
i play a little bit of everything, just want to run things without a crazy bottleneck since i know the cpu can handle more than a 4060 :o)
anyway, aside from gaming, i do use my pc for blender and clip studio
since its not too bad, ill check out a 5070 ti when i get the chance depending on the future prices of am5, thanks !
I love this list, I also wonder what @s1ndrd’s PSU is too. Because they might need to upgrade that as well.
that’s a good question but if I remember right the 4000 series were pretty power hungry. So he may be safe.
i’m actually not sure what the wattage my psu is off the top of my head… maybe 450/500w , but i know i haven’t messed with it as far as upgrading so it wouldn’t surprise me if i need a new one & can be done asap!!
i’ll check it out when i get the chance but what would be recommended for a good baseline?
