Disclaimer - I’ve only ever owned 1 Asus gaming laptop and 1 MacBook Pro from 2020.
Honestly, with your budget, you can’t go wrong. It just depends on your use-case for what you should get. If it’s for tasks such as Microsoft Office, emails and you plan on not doing anything graphically-intensive, opt out of a dedicated GPU entirely with something like an Acer TravelMate P6 (as an example). A 15-inch MacBook air (although no touchscreen) isn’t a bad option either. Doing so will damn-near guarantee exceptional battery-life.
Try to find a balance you want with CPU performance, RAM (16gb is generally good enough for work-related applications), resolution, and battery-life. I wish I could give a more refined answer but laptops are outside of my expertise
