how hard is it to repaste a gpu? i'd rather not "mess it up" but also don't want to leave performance on the table

i feel like my gpu could use thermal repasting. does it use the same paste as cpu’s do? does it break the warranty to repaste the gpu? are there any permanent changes you make when u do repaste it?

When did you buy it / how old is it?

the age and what gpu it is dictates if it’s worth repasting or not. ofc if u have a VERY old gpu, u can use it to practice as well

u can call the warranty manufacturer to check

What temps are you seeing it reach underload? With what fan speeds / fan percent speed?

i don’t know the thermals, but it just feels a bit slower than i remember being when i game. it might be b/c games are getting harder to play?

i don’t know how to see those stats.

Most in-game have analytics, windows + g will show some. Go to Nvidia app / amd app and there is an option to turn on overlay which you can see those temps.

Otherwise CPU Z works, or hwinfo.

You can find a video online on how to check them if my explanation is poor (which it is)
