I have no idea what I’m doing(please help me)

I’m starting my first ever PC build(huge mistake).
I was able to find some ram on eBay that’s DDR5 and seemed like a really good deal and I just wanted the absolute honest opinions from the greatest PC community in the world.

My motherboard of choice is going to be the—> X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7 AM5 LGA 1718, ATX(I just copied and pasted here)

And the ram I found was this—> G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000 CL36 Intel XMP 3.0 Desktop RAM Kit

Should I make a change to the motherboard I’m going to pursue? Or should I change it out for something else? I’m also looking for any advice on this build going forward.

PS. My first ever PC parts purchase was this ram so I basically am building my entire rig around this ram.

The motherboard is good, ram is good, what are your desired specs for the pc? If you have a high budget then I would recommend 9800x3d with a 5070 ti or 5080, but if you have a lower budget then a 9600x and 5060 ti. There is also the in between option of a 9700x and 5070. But, if you’re broke from that ram you bought then it’ll be harder to get a decent pc. Also, what are the desired graphic settings you desire to play at?

Board is actually pretty solid. The X870E AORUS ELITE is a good piece — strong VRMs, PCIe 5 support, WiFi 7, plenty of room to grow. No issue there.

I would double check that RAM though. Make sure it’s an EXPO kit, not just Intel XMP. AM5 can run XMP, but Ryzen is happiest with EXPO-certified 6000 kits. With an XMP-only kit it’ll probably work, but sometimes it won’t train at the full rated speed without manual tweaking.

If it’s EXPO, you’re golden. If it’s XMP-only, not a disaster — just something to be aware of. You really want an EXPO compatible kit.
