The Tokyo Game Show in 2025 once again lived up to its reputation as a major global showcase for both Japanese and international developers. Held at the Makuhari Messe, TGS served as a crossroads where Western flagships and Japanese traditions intersected, bringing together car culture, RPG nostalgia, and fresh gameplay reveals. Forza Horizon 6 will be set in Japan, marking a long-awaited shift in locale for the franchise.

On the more traditional JRPG side of the show, Square Enix used TGS 2025 to spotlight Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, a reimagining of the classic titles with modern visual and mechanical tweaks. At the PlayStation booth, attendees got hands-on with the remake, sampling both games’ revamped combat and exploration. In Dragon Quest I, players faced off against groups of enemies using the Thorn Whip and magic spells, diverging from the one-on-one encounters of the original.
