- Yeah why not, its a new card
- Overpriced and better off going with a used card
now, if you set a 5060 TI 16 Gig, I would’ve said yes most definitely
Interesting. I agree that jump would be pretty substantial. What price do you think would justify the 5050’s existence?
that’s tough to say I just sold my 6800 XT for $330 and that card would walk all over a 5050. I’ve seen 6800 XT go for way more than that too. I wasn’t trying to be greedy. Just offset my new card. As I said in another thread these low tiered graphics cards don’t do very well with the frame generation or upscaling. They just don’t have the power. It’s kind of a scam. This might sound crazy to everybody, but that card ain’t worth more than $150. The proof is in the pudding, those things are sitting on shelves. what really crazy too is a 5060 TI going for $500 that car should be $400. which I think you can purchase a PNY for. but Nvidia is pricing is out of hand and that’s why I won’t buy one even if I had $3500 for a 5090. Their profit margin is like 50% on these cards, that’s insane.
in fact, I’ll go one step further. The only existence I would have for that card cause it is so bad. Is if I had an old broken down computer sitting in the corner that I wanted to fix up for seven year-old family member to play"hello Kitty island adventure" (yes that’s a South Park reference). While trying to spend as little money as possible. That card is a scam from Nvidia. people need to be more patient and save just a little bit more money for something, anything, more usable. my two cents, which is about what it’s worth😜
I’d avoid the 5050. While it is TECHNICALLY the newest generation of card, its performance is lacking when compared to almost every other card since the 1660.
My recommendation would be to go with one of the Intel B580 cards, if you’re hard-capped at the $250-ish price point.
If you’re down to do a little extra work, you could sell the card you’re currently using (not sure if it’s the 1650 or 1660 Super) and put that towards your new card. That could bump your budget up by $100(?), maybe more if you get lucky.
5050 goes for around $250+ I’d spend the $25-50 more for a 9060XT or 5060($279 on sale) for around 20% more performance
This is a great question. I think everyone’s pretty much in agreement here. It’s much better to get the RTX 5060. But since the question is asking for a RTX 5050, I still would ultimately.
