Is it worth the upgrade? My current chip is working fine but I’m seeing issues with my current 6800. Like freezing in new games (dying light: the beast, etc). So I’m looking for a good budget RX 9070, I favor the PowerColor Reaper RX 9070.
So RX6800(non XT) to 9070(non XT) is good upgrade both cards are 16GB & 256bit but 9070 is faster clock speed better bandwidth and big upgrade in raytracing also a bus Interface
PCIe 5.0 x16 if supported by your motherboard. On paper most sites rate the 9070 of having around 50% more performance then 6800 at 1920x1080
My motherboard is the ASROCK B660M PRO RS and my CPU is the i5-12400F, any bottlenecks?
I went from a 6800xt (great card) to a 9070xt. You should see the same performance jump I did. What you will notice the most is the raytracing capabilities difference is astonishing. Not to mention FSR4. While the 6800 is a great card it’s severely lacking and raytracing capabilities. You will also notice cooler temperatures too because the 6800 runs hot.
Just a side note, You should have no problems selling that card used on sites like Jawa. w
I got a $1000 gift card on Amazon for my parents and my use. I’m thinking specifically about the PowerColor Reaper RX 9070. But not sure if I’m gonna get scammed or not. But my Apple wallet is low on fund (only got $411.02)
There really is not a huge difference with regards to performance between the different models, its mostly aesthetics (RGB and color). So brand A 9070 will perform basically the same as brand B 9070, the same is true with a 9070xt. Just make sure you get a 16GB model
So it doesn’t matter if i get the RX 9070 on Newegg or amazon?
Nope, even the over clocked models only get you a few extra frames ( maybe 10-15). So pick the most cost effective or one that fits your build. You are really only paying for RGB lighting or the white tax. I purchased the Asrock Steel Legend which was the cheapest at the time and it is a phenomenal card. I upgraded for similar reasons. My 6800xt had issues with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle because you can not shut RT off on that game.
Ohh ok; Because i got that $1,000 gift card, I’ll try amazon. The PowerColor Reaper is $589.99 ($631 with Tax).
The 12400F is already holding back your RX 6800 in CPU-intensive games. An upgrade to an RX 9070 will be more noticeable if you play at 4K.
The Radeon RX 9070 series is only made with 16GB VRAM, as far as we’re aware.
RX 9060 series has 8GB and 16GB variants; the 16GB is preferred but even the 8GB 9060XT outperforms the 5060 Ti.
I think you’re missing my posts intent. I was only describing there’s not much difference between The brands, be it a 9060, 9060 XT, 9070 XT, OC or non-OC. Not between the models themselves which there would be a significant difference. For straight up rasterization the 6800 is still a very good card but he will see a huge difference with regards Ray tracing though. The 6800 and even the 6800 XT (RDNA2) are not very good at that, I know from personal experience. That’s if they play games with Ray- tracing. Not so much of advantage if he doesn’t and plays competitive games. Which correct, I did not ask and that’s on me.
What cpu do you recommend I upgrade to? I got a ASROCK B660M PRO RS motherboard
I just care about raw performance and raw FPS (all that Raw and a good price).
The faster, the better. 14900K if your cooler can handle it!
