What is the power input requirement for the dc in?

You just use a regulated 8-19V power supply. Most laptop power supplies would probably work as long as they had the right sized connector. I was trying to find the site where I got mine but couldn't. It is a 19V 8.4 amp model made by Adapter Tech. Model STD-19084. Works perfectly.

Question 2

So the specs show a support of only up to 8GB of memory. What is it about this that limits it to 2, 4GB modules? This thing has everything I'm looking for, but 8GB won't cut it for me. Do we think an updated BIOS could enable the recognition of 16GB?

you are correct, gigabyte claims 8gb max supported.  time to look elsewhere.  check out Asus or ASrock.

Question 3

I want to buy this board and put 2 mSATA SSD drives in it.  If I use an external laptop power supply with it, how will I power the second mSATA SSD?  The second mSATA drive will be connected to a mSATA to SATA adapter.  I know I can plug that adapter into an open SATA port but I don't know how I'll be able to power it.  Please help.

BTW the way I'm doing this build requires two drives so I don't have an option to use just one.  Capacity isn't the issue.

This board is not made to be powered by an external laptop power supply and so should not be used for this purpose.

Question 4

Hi, got a crazy question.  Since i'm new to htpc builds, i mistakenly got a in-win case that has a 200w standard 12v psu.  Seeing where this mb does 12v, could i use 2pins of the 4pin ((yellow/black) connector to power this board?

Just trying to save from having to buy a pwr brick.

I don't think so - I doubt 12V would be enough to power it anyway. Check out the Silverstone AD120-STX for the type of supply you need to power this.
