I purchased this drive from NewEgg a couple of months ago.  I carry it in my laptop backpack and use it a couple of times a week.  I have only used it as a reader.  I have not had a need to burn a disc yet.  So far this drive has read every DVD and CD that I put in it.  I am using a Win7 laptop.  No additional drivers were needed when I first connected it to my machine.  I would not hesitate to recommend this drive.  It is very thin and light-weight--about as large as two plastic CD cases stacked.

How long is the USB cable that comes with it?

The included USB cable is relatively long.  Maybe 14".  I have other external DVD drives with 8" cables which I why I consider this one longer.

I would also like to mention that I purchased this drive new from NewEgg and used it about once or twice a month for a year before it failed.  Probably less than a dozen DVD discs burned.  Maybe a couple of dozen read from.  While it lasted it was great.  It mostly sat on my desk unused.  When it failed it failed suddenly.  Now it will only read a few hundred MB from a disc before giving read errors.  This is on both discs that i previously burned and factory CDs and DVDs.  I would recommend looking at other drives.

YES, it does. Windows 10 found the drivers as soon as I plugged it in. No problems at all.

What does M-disk support mean?

M-disc (with a "c" since it's removable media - HDDs and fixed drives use the "k" spelling of disk) is a proprietary type of DVD/Blu-ray, which uses a different laser for burning than traditional DVD writers, due to the medium.

While most discs are burnt into the organic dye layer between the plastic of a disc, M-discs are etched into a carbon compound that is somewhere between the hardness of pencil lead and the compressed carbon of a cubic zirconia, making them less susceptible to aging... A good example is trying to play a CD that you burned 15 years ago, and now it simply won't play, even though it's not scratched, just because the dye has deteriorated like any organic material. M-discs are meant for much longer lasting use and archival purposes, with a(n accelerated) testing process of theoretically 1000 years (or a millennium, hence the "M" in the M-disc). They take a long time to burn, but can be read by any standard DVD reader once it's done.

So, it's a niche market ability, which is very cool, but has little practical use, especially since the discs are quite expensive to purchase, even in bulk. For more info, please refer to their site, which is simply mdisc-dot-com.

Would like to use this with my 2 in 1 device but am running Windows 10. Will it work, or is there a similar drive that will work with Win10? Will be used for playing CD's, DVD's, and some games.
