is the side metal or plastic?

I'm not exactly sure what part you're considering the side, but the black side of the earphone peice feels like metal to me, or at least metal plated. The silver part is definitely metal.

Question 2

Is this an Over-ear headset, or does this rest on your ears? The specefictions didn't clarify this, it said closed cup design but wasn't sure if that meant over-ear.

It is very much an "Over the Ear" headset. The cups go around your ears and are supported by the headrest that sits atop your head. You can adjust where the cups are placed by gently pulling on the metal "C" shaped part which hold the speakers. "Closed Cup Design" is their marketing catch that suggests noise-cancellation, in my opinion.

In conclusion, yes. Over the ear, no resting on the ear. If you have small ears, you won't even feel the cup part after a while; super comfy

do they go fully over the ears or are they like the logitech G35 or more like the crappey razer kraken?

They go over your ears my only warning is if you have a big head like me they are a tad too short so wearing them for hrs upon hrs like I do they can get a bit uncomfortable but then again I have never had a set that I could wear 24/7 but I will say by far best sound quality

I have a really nice sound card on my PC. Would I just use the headset without the USB audio control box and plug it into the PC using the jack? Also if I wanted to use it with my PS4 would I just use it with the USB audio control box and plug it into the USB slot for a controller?

It's all plug and play correct?

I don't have a lot of time on my hands right now, otherwise I could give you a ton of info. I have owned Astro A40's, Turtle Beach Z Seven, and a couple of other good head sets. I had nothing but problems with the digital mixer from Astro, so I sold them. TB Z Seven were nice, but after owning them for 6 months, all of sudden they would cause a mic crash in ventrilo, and I could get no help from TB. When comes to Surround Sound in headsets you have two choices... 1. Simulated - one main driver (speaker) in the ear cup 2. Surround by using multiple drivers in each ear cup. Both have there advantages and disadvantages. The HyperX Cloud II are built well, are comfortable and fairly light weight . Through their own USB sound card they offer simulated surround that is fairly decent. But if you use just the 3.5mm jack (skip their USB card), then all you going to hear is stereo. The only way to get analog true 5.1 surround out of headset plugged into a sound card is to have headset that has (3) 3.5mm jacks, one for Front, Center, and Rear. To date there aren't that many out there. How is this headset for people with glasses? Thanks!

I wear glasses and the only issue I have is it holds the parts on my ear really tightly so they don't move. Absolutely no discomfort though. This headset is flat out amazing.

How long is the cord?

The part connected directly to the headset is 1m long. The USB cord which connects to the integrated sound card, and which optionally connects to the headset, is 2m long.

So you have the option of a 1m or 3m cord.

I actually find the 1m cord length is perfect for using with the Xbox One's stereo headset adapter. It's long enough that I never notice it, but short enough to never get tangled up or twisted.

How can I use this headset and bypass the USB soundcard while still hearing stereo sound and utilizing the microphone on my PC?

When you unplug the cord from the corded control box, you see a plug with three rings.  There are a variety of adapters that will split this plug into separate headphones/microphone plugs that you can plug into your PC or other device.  Search for something like "Smartphone Headset to PC Adapter"

when using the inline amp on PC do you get mic monitoring(like you can hear yourself talk through the ear cups?

In the Headset Microphone Properties under the Listen tab you can check a box labeled "Listen to this device".  This will let you hear yourself speak through the headphone speakers.  I assume this is what you mean by mic monitoring, although it isn't labeled as such, but I tested it myself and it works great.

Will it work with Xbox 1?

The USB Dongle works on stereo, but not 7.1 Surround. I haven't used this on my XBOX One yet, but Kingston says: "Compatible – USB connectivity for PC & Mac. Stereo compatible with PS4, Xbox One1 and mobile."

This is a great headset. For the price you won't find better. I did a lot of research before getting these. I got them pre-release a few months ago and they are the best sounding and most comfortable I have ever owned (can wear them with glasses for hours). They sound great for my PC gaming and I am sure they are good on XBOX One.

I think youtube has some video reviews of them on XBOX One. Check those out if you want to hear from someone that used them on console and not PC as well.

Question 10

I can't seem to get my computer to recognize the mic.  It recognizes the headphones and I can hear sound and everything but the mic doesn't pick anything up. Anyone else got this issue?

It depends on how your computer is configured, but sometimes you will have to manually make the headset mic the default recording device.

Assuming you are using Windows, you can do this by right clicking the volume icon in the system tray, clicking "Recording Devices", selecting "Headset Microphone" (it should also say HyperX 7.1 or something like that), clicking the "Set Default" button at the bottom, and finally clicking Apply or OK.

Once it's been made the default, you will need to make sure whatever application you are using is also configured to use the default device.

Also, try turning the mic volume up :) When I first configured mine the mic volume was so low that it seemed like no sound was being picked up.
