GIGABYTE B450 AORUS PRO WIFI5/2/2020 10:51:14 AM

Pros: - Ordered in April of 2020 and shipped with the latest BIOS (F40) and "Ryzen 3000 ready" - 5 fan headers (5) - Good placement of all components and connectors - On-board WIFI - XMP Profile 1 automatically set the memory to 3200/CL14 I mainly use Gigabyte motherboards these days because they are solid and Gigabyte has the best support web site, updated drivers, BIOS, etc.

Cons: I don't know if the shroud over the I/O panel serves a purpose or not. I hope it was added for a functional purpose because I think it's ugly

Overall Review: I ordered two of these motherboards, both for gaming rigs. I was super happy that they both shipped with the latest BIOS (F40). I was worried about having to update the BIOS based on earlier reviews. Both builds went really smooth with no problems. -------------------------------------------------------------- GIGABYTE B450 AORUS PRO WIFI (rev. 1.0) AMD RYZEN 5 3600X Noctua NH-U14S (with NM-AM4-UxS mounting kit and Arctic Silver TIM) GSKILL F4-3200C14D-16GFX EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO GAMING Samsung 1TB EVO SSD Corsair Carbide Series 110R CC-9011183-WW Thermaltake 850W -------------------------------------------------------------- GIGABYTE B450 AORUS PRO WIFI (rev. 1.0) AMD RYZEN 7 1800X Noctua NH-U14S (with NM-AM4-UxS mounting kit and Arctic Silver TIM) GSKILL F4-3200C14D-16GFX EVGA GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER SC ULTRA GAMING Samsung 1TB EVO SSD Corsair Carbide Series 110R CC-9011183-WW Seasonic S12III 650 SSR-650GB3 650W

Beyond amazing4/30/2020 10:57:06 PM

Pros: - I was able to drop this CPU into my existing x370 gigabyte k7 motherboard (after BIOS updates) - Performance is truly exceptional

Cons: - You will need a serious cooling solution such as a Noctua D15 (minimum), or really good AIO liquid cooler (better), or a proper custom loop solution (best). Do some research before purchasing a cooler.

Overall Review: At this point you have already read the hardware reviews and benchmark results. Here is my story. I built a Ryzen 1800X gaming PC using a Gigabyte X370 motherboard about a year ago. The build sheet is listed at the bottom. It was amazing. When Gigabyte released an X370 BIOS supporting the 3950X, my PC hardware junkie inner self couldn't resist ordering one of the fastest (the fastest?) processors ever produced. I updated the BIOS and then I dropped this CPU in my existing PC. It was really easy. I hope this helps. Good buy11/22/2019 10:47:08 AM

Pros: The main thing for me was that the sound bar would be controlled with the television remote. I didn't want my mother to have to bother with using multiple remotes. In my case she had a Samsung television and it works great.

Cons: none

Overall Review: good buy

Works great11/22/2019 10:43:25 AM

Pros: Good processor, 8 GB ram, and a 256 GB solid state drive. As expected, it boots quickly and runs well. The OS was already activated. Not much "bloat" applications pre-loaded I purchased two of these. Both arrived in a single box with molded foam packing. Both laptops worked as expected. Both have some light scratches and/or dents on the lid, but that was expected for a refurbished laptop. Otherwise they seem to be in very good shape. Good seller.

Cons: none really

Overall Review: I haven't tested the battery run times yet. I know the batteries are used so I don't expect they will be 100%. I believe Dell laptops are a good choice because they are common (you can find parts easily) and the Dell support is generally better compared to the other brands. I also noticed that the charger for this unit is the same as my company issued Dell laptop. Also the Dell charger is more robust than other brands. Other brands have "dainty" charge plugs and thinner wires so they are more likely to fail/break.

Solid hardware for occaisonal backups7/16/2019 1:06:55 PM

Pros: Seems to run quiet and cool when in use. Fast enough for my purposes. Seagate generally makes good stuff.

Cons: Not really

Overall Review: I have two of these 6 TB units and they have served me well. I only use these for occasional backups. I did not install the software. All of my USB hard drives spend most of their time disconnected and powered off. I wouldn't ask any USB hard drive to run all the time. If your PC gets zapped by a power surge (or stolen, etc.) then you may also loose your external USB hard drive if it's connected. Please don't use a USB hard drive for constant duty primary storage without backing it up. I know several people who lost all their stuff because they relied on a "constant duty" USB hard drive as their primary storage. If you need a full-time large storage device then you aren't looking for a backup device. You should buy a high quality internal drive and install it inside your PC. If you have an ultra small form factor PC, or a laptop, or one of those "all in one" PC's then adding another internal drive may not be an option. In that case you should probably invest in a really good NAS solution designed for constant duty instead of a USB hard drive. In all cases, backing up your data using a cloud service is a good idea also.

Freesync issue here also2/2/2018 8:04:10 PM

Pros: Thin bezel 144 Hz 3,686,400 pixels - all working properly (amazing if you think about it) The Hz counter is nice, along with the crosshair

Cons: As many others have stated, the Freesync doesn't work properly. The screen goes black when I'm playing games. This happens in some games more than others. It's as if the monitor loses connection and is searching for an input signal. Some have suggested that the monitor doesn't like it when the refresh rate changes suddenly. Others have said that in-game menus are often only 60Hz and the sudden change from 144 to 60 is too much for this monitor to handle. Also the screen goes black when watching videos in full screen mode, but it doesn't come back until I minimize the video. Lastly, I noticed that the monitor sometimes runs at 60Hz when I start up a game. It shows 144Hz when I'm in the windows desktop, but when I start a game it shows 60Hz. Cycling the power to the monitor after the game is running sets the monitor back to 144Hz. Enabling the on-screen Hz counter in the menu is nice, but I don't enjoy seeing a 60 up there. I thought I purchased a 144Hz Freesync monitor. But I guess not... The firmware on this one is 16-06-08-11 and it was purchased December 2017 for less than three franklins. Looking to buy an XG35VQ now.

Rare and beautiful8/22/2017 12:09:42 AM

Pros: It arrived in a huge padded box. I love the aluminum. It installed with no trouble. No noticeable pump or coil noise. I was worried about that stuff after reading so much about the Fury. Installed it in a Ryzen 7 1800X box with a Gigabyte K7 motherboard. Colors match the Gigabyte motherboard nicely if you care about that sort of thing.

Cons: Hard to find at the moment. Hopefully that will improve.

Overall Review: This is my first "all in one" liquid cooled graphics card. So far so good. I was targeting the air cooled Vega 64, but I was lucky to snag this one with a Ryzen combo on the first day they were available. Actually it was the first hour of the first day... Sorry I don't have more info at this time (benches, temps, etc.).

A new era has arrived8/21/2017 11:43:02 PM

Pros: Worked at rated speed and timings with my Ryzen 1800X and Gigabyte motherboard

Cons: Premium price compared to DDR4 2400. Is the performance increase worth it? Yes for my case because I could afford it. If you are a gamer on a budget, it would be wiser to buy the 2400 and spend the difference on a better video card.

Overall Review: This build: GIGABYTE AORUS GA-AX370-Gaming K7 (rev. 1.0) Ryzen 7 1800X Gskill FlareX F4-3200C14D-16GFX Radeon RX Vega 64 LCS Corsair 850 PSU Noctua NH-D15 SE AM4 This MB shipped with the F3 BIOS. The memory speed was 2400 upon first boot. I set the memory XMP to "profile 1" and rebooted. Memory set to 3200 with the proper timings for the Gskill FlareX. Ran memtest86 for several hours. No errors. Loaded Win10 and all was well. So, in my case the F3 BIOS seemed to work just fine with DDR4 3200 memory using the XMP profile.

Pros: You've read the reviews on the tech websites. You have seen the benchmark results. You could buy a Ryzen 7 1700 and dial it up to 11 with a proper HSF and a good motherboard. That's what I was going to do but then I bought this one and never looked back.

Cons: Doesn't come with a HSF (not really a con).

Pros: Dual BIOS Diagnostic LCD panel Dual LAN Fan headers everywhere Padded I/O shield Lots of extras (SLI bridge, 4 SATA cables, Velcro straps, label stickers, 2 temperature probes, etc.) More features than I'll ever use No issues, easy build, worked out of the box with the components listed below.

Cons: More features than I'll ever use

Overall Review: Gigabyte motherboards are solid. I have assembled dozens and dozens of custom PCs during the past 20 years, using motherboards from pretty much all the manufacturers. I do prefer Gigabyte. Maybe I'm just lucky but every Gigabyte motherboard has worked out of the box. I've never had one fail, and to the best of my knowledge all of them are still running today. A word to the wise - Don't go cheapo with your motherboard, or your power supply! I call it "Stickers"5/7/2017 2:51:45 PM

Pros: My employer issued me an M4600 and i liked it so much I decided to get one for my personal use. Best laptop I've ever owned without a doubt. I purchased two of these. Both arrived in decent condition and they work great. I gave one to my brother and kept the other one. I'm typing this review on it now. If you don't already know, the Dell Precision laptops are amazing machines. Hands down, the best desktop replacement in every measurable way, especially support and peripherals.

Cons: Stickers, stickers, stickers. During the "refurbishment" process, they put stickers on almost all of the surfaces. They covered the lid top with a large vinyl sticker designed to mimic brushed aluminum. I'm sure they did this to cover up the existing scratches and dents in the aluminum panel. But the vinyl scratches very easy and after a few months it looks terrible. I would really rather see the bare aluminum. Also, they put a large black sticker on the palm rest surrounding the touch pad, covering up the very nice rubbery surface from the Dell factory. Lastly, they put stickers on the keys to cover up the wear marks on the keyboard. Stickers, UGH... The only other complaint is the loose power receptacle. I know from experience that the power receptacle on laptops get abused. These receptacles are framed in plastic and they are surface mounted on the main board. The plastic plug housing gets bent or broken and this makes the power plug seem loose. Very difficult, maybe impossible to repair. It seems to charge just fine but I prefer to use a docking station. Plus this allows me to drive two monitors.

Overall Review: I ordered two, but I wasn't sure what I would get. One had bluetooth, but no webcam. The other one had a webcam, but no bluetooth. Both had Nvidia Quadro 1000M video cards and optimus (automatic switching between the Intel graphics and the Nvidia graphics - nice!). Both had 1920x1080 screens. Both had SSDs and both worked perfectly. One of the laptops had a brand new keyboard installed. The other one had stickers on the keys to make the keyboard look new.

Wake up, you old and slow PC!!!5/7/2017 2:29:57 PM

Pros: Cheap way to jump start an older PC. An SSD is the best improvement you can make. I've used many ADATA memory kits for PC builds without any trouble at all.

Cons: Not sure of the durability of this unit, but I'm willing to give it a try.

Overall Review: I used this to replace the HD in a ten year old Dell PC. I also upgraded the RAM to 4GB. (2GB was just too little for Win10). Doing this gave new life to an old PC. Now it boots to windows about 8 seconds after POST (it was several minutes before).

Good choice5/7/2017 2:21:44 PM

Pros: This one is excellent. You can run with one fan, top or bottom, or both fans. Ask yourself why Intel and AMD configure their HSF to blow downward onto the motherboard. They know the motherboard needs airflow. This HSF will not only keep your CPU nice and cool. It also cools your memory and the motherboard. I read about overclock bottlenecks and I see a lot of people looking only at the CPU temps. I think the motherboard temps are often overlooked. See those heat sinks on the motherboard? They need airflow too!

Cons: Less heat pipes and less area for the fins compared to the NH-C14, NH-C14s. Bring back the NH-C14. That one was the best one!!!

Overall Review: I've built dozens and dozens of gaming PCs during the past 20 years. I've tried every CPU cooling solution you can imagine - except that mineral oil fish tank thing and the liquid nitrogen thing - way too messy. My main rig is liquid cooled with a custom loop at the moment but I'm not sure i would do that again (because it was crazy expensive and it makes it harder to swap components, plus I had to add fans to keep the motherboard cool anyway). Air cooling, a case with good airflow, a HSF that blows downward, and large diameter fans are the best bang for you buck.

Pros: Noctua noctua noctua Really good stuff, always. I can't imagine using anything else. Plus this company is great about supporting new sockets.

Cons: Ever wonder why Intel and AMD CPU heat sinks blow downward? Because they know the motherboard needs from airflow too! I prefer HSF configurations that blow air downward onto the motherboard (NH-C14, NH-C14s).

Samsung PRO SSDS are sweet2/18/2017 2:55:18 PM

Pros: I've used Samsung PRO SSDs for my past six PC builds during the last few years and I've had no trouble at all. I have used other makes and I can't say the same for them. I'm sure there are other good makes, but it's hard to stray from what I know works well. Samsung PRO.

Cons: None

Overall Review: You should know that a good quality mechanical drive is better than an SSD in every way except speed. As a painful example, I've had one SSD brick on me when the power went down at my house. That particular SSD wasn't a Samsung but I think all SSDs may have the same problem when power is lost as data is being written to the drive. This is why I advise using a UPS for your desktop PC. Laptops don't have this problem because they will run off the battery when power is lost. Be sure to optimize your OS for your SSD. The are several very good write-ups on the web about how to extend the life of your drive.

Very good for the power and price2/18/2017 2:27:21 PM

Pros: I liked fact that it was a longer card with a larger cooler compared to other 1050ti cards. Seems to work great. No PCIe power connector needed, so this would work well in a lower power system without a more expensive power supply. EVGA is one of the best video card mfrs, maybe the best. This is the one2/4/2014 8:40:57 AM

Pros: Noctua has several really good HSF products for CPU cooling, but I think this one is the best because it blows air directly on the motherboard. This helps to keep the memory and everything else on the motherboard cooler than the "pass through" HSF products. Remember that your OC and stability results are not just related to the CPU temp. The voltage regulators and the memory (and other components) on the motherboard could also be a bottleneck. This HSF will help to cool your motherboard also.

Cons: Expensive, but worth it if you value low noise and cooler temps

Overall Review: Always research a product before buying. The newegg reviews can be useful, but there are lots of PC review web sites also. Just copy and paste the model number in your favorite search engine.
