Suits my needs for a great price!

Acer Nitro V - 15.6" GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU - Intel Core i7-13620H - 16GB Memory - 1 TB PCIe SSD - Windows 11 Home 64-bit - Gaming Laptop - 144 Hz IPS (ANV15-51-75HE )

Pros: Fast disk drive. Ample memory. Not too loud. Does everything I need it to.

Cons: When I first turned it on, the screen wouldn't light up. Turns out the contrast had been set to 0. Once I increased that, the computer ran like normal.

Overall Review: I had an Acer Aspire V Nitro that lasted a miraculous 8.5 years, so I felt confident buying from them again. I love having a fully SSD drive. The 16GB of RAM and video card are more than enough to run PhotoShop, and it's nice that I can play some of the newer games on Steam now. I like that the NitroSense app lets me control the fan speed with three pre-settings: Quiet, Daily Use, Gaming.

Wanted to love it, but needed accurate yellow colors more

MSI GS Series - 15.6" 4K / UHD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M - Intel Core i7-4710HQ - 16GB Memory - 256 GB SSD - Windows 8.1 64-Bit - Gaming Laptop - IPS (GS60 Ghost Pro 4K-078 )

Pros: Beautiful gold metal case. Lightweight. Loved the multi-colored backlit keyboard. Booted really fast on the SSD drive. Very clear display. Came with great extras: backpack, protective sleeve, headphones, keyboard cover, and mouse. Dual fans kept it running cool enough so it was comfortable on my lap, unlike my previous laptop.

Cons: Unfortunately, bright yellow renders as a mustard color on the screen. I'm a web designer and need accurate color for my work. I knew about this flaw when I bought it, but everything else about the computer was so appealing that I thought I could overcome it by only doing design work when the computer was connected to my desktop monitor. Unfortunately, the 3840 x 2160 display of the laptop did not work well with the maximum 1680x1050 display of my monitor. I considered buying a new monitor to overcome the problem, but realized I didn't want the sites I work on to look so small relatively. And the mustard color annoyed me more than I anticipated it would. It broke my heart, but I ended up returning this laptop and buying a much less sleek but more practical Acer. *sigh* I would have loved to have kept it, but I guess if it had more accurate screen color I wouldn't have been able to afford it anyway.

Overall Review: If you don't need accurate yellows for your work, this is an awesome computer.

Great quality for great price

Acer Aspire V Nitro - 15.6" NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M - Intel Core i7-4720HQ - 16GB Memory - 256 GB SSD - Windows 8.1 64-Bit - Gaming Laptop - (VN7-591G-72K6 )
Acer Aspire V Nitro - 15.6" NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M - Intel Core i7-4720HQ - 16GB Memory - 256 GB SSD - Windows 8.1 64-Bit - Gaming Laptop - (VN7-591G-72K6 )

Pros: SSD drive boots super fast. Runs cool enough to sit comfortably on my lap. Large HDD for storing data files. Lightweight and thin. Design doesn't scream "gaming laptop" which I like since I use it for web development, not gaming. Battery life better than I expected from reading other online reviews. Easy to upgrade to Windows 10. The case is a nice matte material which I like a lot better than the glossy case my old laptop had which attracted a lot of dust and made fingerprints easily visible. Red backlit keyboard easy to use in low lighting.

Cons: Comes with some bloatware that I removed. There is one pixel in the middle of the screen that appears brighter than the rest when bright colors are displayed, but it doesn't annoy me enough to return it over that. All the USB ports and the HDMI connector are on the right, which makes it a bit awkward at my work station since I'd prefer those to be on the left. For some reason number lock is always turned off when I reboot. Wish keyboard buttons had a bit more punch.

Overall Review: I was very hesitant to buy an Acer since I tend to associate that brand with cheap netbooks, not quality laptops. Luckily I've been happily surprised by how much I love this laptop and I feel silly in retrospect for being such a brand snob. Any of the "cons" I listed are at most annoyances and well worth the "pros" that come with this laptop, particularly at this price.
