Best Z370 MOBO for the money.
Pros: Awesome lighting.Looks super cool. Great at overclocking. Many fan headers/led headers. Very nice looking board-even without the lights.Well built.Quality VRM parts.Awesome overclocking potential. Very stable power. Worry free BIOS update due to a dual bios motherboard.Very comforting knowing you have a backup! Up to 3 Nvme M.2 slots can be used-and with Raid 0.If you need speed-this is pretty high end.One thermal guard is provided also. Very high end audio components used.32 bit/384 mhz with 5.1 surround and s/pdif out.You could easily spend 150$ on a sound card and have a lesser product.Having said that, its not "audiophile" quality, just darn good . Has a 3 amp header for water cooling systems which is great. USB 3.1 v2 available for the front panel (rear too). Allows you to charge devices on it.Very high speeds too. Dual LAN (not just 2 connections) but separate -one Intel, the other Rivet Networks "killer"-both 1000Mbit temp sensor headers for watercooling or...? I can go on and on but its basically a board for gamers that like great audio and lighting to show off what they have. Really like the LED onboard analyzer.
Cons: This board has TONS of free software and the idea of it is great BUT....its got problems. The lighting has its issues and it doesnt play well with the Trident Z rgb ram. It also doesnt have the "wave" function available, and this software has many different versions of it. If you want to have a Nvme M.2 drive as your boot drive, you need to download the latest bios first. Fan software is out to lunch! It will tell you the fan speed is one thing when you know its another.
Overall Review: If you can live with the imperfect software, then its an awesome motherboard. It would be the ultimate if they could just get the bugs out of the system!I knew the issues , but based on many different motherboard reviews, I found this to be the one for me.Its the most gorgeous motherboard out there, overclocks well, and has tons of features.Would buy it again in a heartbeat.
German Tank meets Industrial Computer Case
Pros: So many reviews a;ready but yeah, its huge , industrial looking, and beautiful. Love that it stores up to four 2.5 inch SSD and two 3.5 inch HDD drives all hidden behind the motherboard panel.Easy wire hiding/routing slots with rubber protectors. Supports so many ways to place fans or radiators wherever you want. I have a 240mm radiator on the top(exhaust), three 140mm fans in the front(intake), and room on the bottom and back for another 3 fans. Air diverter to cool the hard drives, and another allows air to go to the bottom mounted PSU(which is covered). All the grills come off with the push of a latch button.Has one on top, bottom, and front.Good for dust bunny removal. Love that they thought to make the top a storage spot for a keyboard! Also having a headphone hanger on front is cool too. 2 big top handles to carry it with. Why hasnt everyone copied this idea? Front/top has spots for CD ROM/Blu ray drives that can be removed for another fan if wanted/needed. Very wide/stable stance.Helps to have the PSU at the bottom for weight too.Not top heavy. The black Max has a slightly tinted window which is what I wanted. I spent a lot on my computer and I wanted to show it with pride.Glad I bought this case!!!Very customizeable.
Cons: Fans have an odd sound-like a few bees on steroids, or somebody's vibrator under a pile of clothes.IDK? Wish there a USB 3.1 on the front .Also make the 4 USB ports all 3.0 (since 2.0 is backwards compatible anyways) Instructions and drawings are bad. Pictures are too hard to see. Some parts like the air diverter and the bottom PSU cover are hard to remove I found installing into the 3.5 inch HD bay tough.Popped the pins out several times!Must be doing it wrong?
Overall Review: Despite my criticism, this is an awesome case-just has room for improvement is all.I would buy it again, any day of the week, and twice on Sunday! Pictures don't do it justice but its an awesome case!
Killer 6 core Gaming CPU thats affordable.
Pros: If you want an awesome gaming CPU for a good price, this is it!! It may not be the I7 8700k, but its half the price and nearly the same performance , unless you overclock the 8700k.Hyper-threading has almost no benefit in gaming , and if you are gonna do lots of 4k video editing,CAD programs, or heavy scientific cpu related work, then youre looking at the wrong processor family! Those are best with 10-20 core CPU.Coffee Lake is all about gaming. Uses very little power but get a better cooler(like the Corsair H100i V2) You wont find a game that this CPU wont play well-your bottleneck will be the graphics card. Very high performance for a modest price. Pretty good on board graphics but I wouldn't use that for gaming-just surfing/watching videos. Good CPU for Virtual Reality.
Cons: Cant overclock (duh!) Requires the z370 series motherboard-not backwards compatible with other 1151 type mother boards (thanks Intel ).
Overall Review: Although you will have to get into yet another motherboard series, the coffee lake family will have another production run later in 2018. More upgrades will come(like Ice Lake) but those will probably require yet another motherboard!
Great Power Supply
Pros: From the moment you unpack it, you can tell its a quality product.Packaging is great, storage bag provided. Lots of cables and NO mustard/ketchup coloured wires!!!Like who cares about wire tracing within a cable? If its faulty, you replace it.You wouldn't/shouldn't repair a bad cable. All the cables are great quality. Power has an eco mode but I don't trust it.Just keep it on normal IMO, otherwise its running hotter than need be.Besides my case fans are way louder than the PSU , and they are pretty quiet to begin with.Did I mention this PSU was quiet? it has a 10 year warranty so you will probably get 2 computer builds out of it before you need to change it. If you skimp on this step, you risk losing everything!! Even if you buy another brands, get a great one with good reviews. Fully modular means if you don't need a cable, you wont have to tuck it anywhere.
Cons: Don't like the SATA cords with splitters.Would prefer it if they left that as an option to splice onto one but I understand why they do it. Just a small nitpick of mine.
Overall Review: Like many things in life. there can be bad production units. Usually with a good company, they have quality control/testing on all parts .Usually a quality PSU either works for many years, or it doesnt work at all from the get go. Do yourself a favour and use a good power supply.Otherwise you could have problems with your cpu, ram.mobo, etc...How much are you gonna save then?
Best Bang For Buck Performance
Pros: 3 Year limited warranty. Almost instant boot times( in super fast mode). In normal boot mode, you are in desktop in about 12 to 15 seconds. Big enough to store windows, plus many games or apps on this relatively small drive. No comparison between mechanical drives and SSD. Tons of reviews on this one show its among the fastest.1 TB drives were too pricey for me but this was a great buy.SUPER happy with the speed and instantaneous response of it. You wont ever use a mechanical drive for your OS once you try this ! Samsung is THE player to go with on SSD and this drive makes an exponential difference in loading/running anything stored on it.Your games wont play faster, but they will load very quickly, especially large ones.
Cons: For what it is, there really are no cons.
Overall Review: Some mobo's require a bios upgrade to load windows from USB to this SSD (such as the Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7). Price per GB higher than some and not a cheap storage medium for bulk storage . Generally mechanical drives give warnings they are dying, these usually work(or they dont) . Always backup-backup-backup things!!!
