Pros: Kingston RAM, very affordable, fills the weird ECC/UDIMM niche required by some server boards. Slim DIMMs. Kingston wrote the book on quality memory, they just have been out of the spotlight.
Cons: A heatsink would be nice.
Overall Review: I haven't used much Kingston RAM in a while, it used to be all that I would use. I think this was a board issue and not a RAM issue, but I had to install 1 DIMM at a time for it to recognize all 16GB, otherwise I would only get 8GB in any configuration. If you are having that problem though, start at the top and work your way down 1 DIMM/boot/check bios at a time.
Meh - 3/7 DOA
Pros: Tons of great I/O options, gigabit ethernet.
Cons: 3 of these out of 7 were DOA. No post, no vga, no usb, no error beeps, nothing.
Overall Review: I was really excited for this board. It seemed great and the first 3 seemed to be awesome, but then I had 3 in a row totally DOA. Tried different PSUs, memory, CPUs, etc., no dice. All builds were identical also, except for a 2105 i3 instead of 2100 in a few. The H61M-VS was my previous go-to board, but I needed gigabit for a few applications and wanted to try these out. I will try these out again in the future as this may have just been a bad run, but in the meantime I am going elsewhere for budget gigabit boards.
Solid Printer
Pros: - Photos look great - Pretty easy to set up - Sleek
Cons: - Ink costs more than a mortgage
Overall Review: I've been using this for a little over a month and so far it seems to handle all the tasks I've thrown at it just fine. Scanning works well, printing works well, photos work well. Overall I'm satisfied with the functionality of the printer. The software was regular-level of printer package bloat, but you can just install the driver its self and avoid a lot of the waste. My major complaint, and I'm not docking an egg for it because it's not about the printer but the industry, is that the ink is freaking insanely expensive. I've been using brother printers for years because the availability of affordable or refilled ink. Even the refills for this are crazy expensive. It's crazy. That being said, I'm sure everyone who is looking at a printer is aware of ink costs. The document feeder holds about ~30 pages. Their documentation said up to 35 but I felt that was a pretty tight squeeze. It used recycled paper just fine, and the photo printing worked as well as you could expect. In the past I've had issues with photos from printers losing their color after a few months, so I'll have to wait and see for this one. A really nice feature is the SD card reader/usb reader, which allows you to print without it even being hooked up. You can also print to it wirelessly from your phone (if you've joined it to your home/small office network). Recommend for the robust features.
Great for my use case
Pros: - Extremely quiet - Fit in my phanteks case without any issues - Easy to install
Cons: - The fan controller is really odd. It should just hook up to the internal USB bus like most companies. - The wiring harnesses they use fall apart easily
Overall Review: I have a case that is built around having a water cooler so this was a straight forward installation. I just followed the instructions and everything went together fine. The wiring harnesses they use to connect all the discrete components are pretty bad. They would fall apart and just generally felt cheap. To change the lighting modes you have to use their dongle. I really wish this was like competitor's products that would just plug directly into the internal usb bus and I could use software to control it. That being said, it keeps my CPU quite cold and is essentially silent (unless under prolonged use). If you are looking for a budget (or maybe just entry level) cpu cooler then I do recommend this. Minus 1 egg for the wiring harness and lack of ease when it comes to controlling the lights.
It's spinning
Pros: - It spins like nothing I've seen spin before. Seriously this thing is a fidget spinner in your computer case - The colors
Cons: - Entry point
Overall Review: Ok, this fan is amazing. Just the technology behind it is impressive enough, but the colors, the spinning... just everything about it screams quality and intent. Let's get one thing clear, this fan has an entry point. Yup, your case fans have an entry point now. You probably won't like just one of these in your case once you see it going, and you definitely want all the perks of the entire ecosystem, so if you're going to pick this fan up I really recommend planning ahead a bit and thinking about if it's what you really want. That being said, these are worth it. The magnetic levitation functionality is probably the next step in system components, and it (theoretically anyways) will reduce replacement costs by quite a bit. My house is full of dust, I can't get rid of it. It loves my computer and it likes to wreck my fans. I have to usually crack them open and put some oil every 6 months or so if I want them to last, but the technology behind these fans should help to alleviate that. They aren't magical but they glow, spin, and work amazing. Best of all? Other than the air moving they are quiet. REALLY quiet. Highly recommended, corsair has really been stepping up its game.
LOVE it.
Pros: - Looks nice, I like the color scheme - Efficient - Modular - Clean output
Cons: - I like the colors but it might not go with every build - Cables require a bit of wrangling
Overall Review: I really, really like this power supply. Although it was oversized for my build I figured more is always better so I replaced my existing EVGA unit. Install was as easy as any power supply: rip out the old, put in the new. Since it's modular you have to pick your required cables, but the unit is well labeled and I didn't run into any issues that would cause concern. I did find the cables a bit tougher than usual, and had to wrangle it through the back of my case (Phantek case, great management available). I didn't have any particular tools to measure how efficient the unit is, if it actually lives up to the numbers on the box, but the gold certification and the Corsair name leads me to believe it is what it says it is. I had absolutely no issues with an i5 6700k, GeForce 960, 16 GB of ram, samsung evo SSD, and western digital black hard drive. I think in reality I am using closer to ~300w, and this didn't even blink at powering that load. I ran a few games and hovered my hand over the fans and I really don't think it heated up at all. If you have a beefy build I am sure this could comfortably power it without any issues. I would feel extremely confident placing this PSU in any workstation or gaming rig. Due to its high efficiency it would feel right at home in a home server as well. 5 well deserved eggs, highly recommended, another winner from Corsair.
